The regional conference is an annual event organized by one of the member institution on rotational basis once every Japanese fiscal year. Two regional conferences were already held: ITB, Bandung March 2009 ( JFY2008) and Burapha University, Chonburi January 2010 (JPY2009). New and renewable energy is one of the five interdisciplinary areas and under the Mechanical Engineering field in which ITB is the Host Intitution and one of the nine fundamental fields under the AUN SEED NET. The Regional Conference is not only a place where faculty members in Member Institutions (MIs) and Japanese Supporting Universities (JSUs) review the progress of research carried out by graduate students of AUN/SEED-Net and Member Institutions under the Collaborative Research Program and discuss related activities for further research collaboration, but also a venue to collect and disseminate the most updated technology and the research of regional issues and public interests in order to contribute to the community and to draw support from the industrial and the governmental sectors.

Rapid growth of world population has brought along theunavoidable and critical increase in the demand of energy consumption.The situation has been intensified by the lack of low-cost energy sources and the unawareness of air pollution resulted from auto-mobiles and power plants.Researchers have been making continuous effortto search for new technologies responding to energy conversion efficiency and and eliminating emissions.To ensure a continuity and sustainability of this effort,the regional conference is aimed to be a forum in which an exchange of new knowledge among researchers,academicians,or industrialist can be encouraged and strengthened. In accordance to this,all intellectuals both inside and outside AUN/SEED-Net network are welcomed to contribute to this regional conference academically and practically.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts and full papers in English.Paper selection will be based on reviewing abstract by internationalscientific committee. ABOUTUNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA

Established as the second university in the country in 1969, Universiti Sains Malaysia was first known as Universiti Pulau Pinang. Situated across the Penang Bridge in the main island and approximately 9.7 km from Georgetown.
