b) This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. Through a combination of self-paced online learning and instructor-led classroom skill session you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skill competency required for certification. The online portion features simulation learning – an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the classroom skill session and must be taken on a Flash-enabled computer with a high speed Internet connection. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

a) Mobile CPR and first aid instruction

i) First Aid & CPR - This is the course for lay persons including child care workers, adult

care workers, teachers and anyone who wants a working knowledge of handling

wounds, broken bones, burns, head or spinal injuries. It includes first aid for seizures,

anaphylactic reactions, shock and poisoning. Virtually every first aid situation one might encounter.

ii) CPR and AED - Adult, child and infant cpr - Approved for child and adult care workers as well as teachers applying for their Michigan teaching certificate.

iii) 2-hour fast paced coursesiv) Cost: $30-50v) Participants receive their American Red Cross CPR/First Aid cards good for 2-years.

Wilderness First Aid1) American Red Cross and the BSA

a) Two Saturday’s (March 5 & 19 - Detroit, April 8-10 Teetonkah)b) Age 14+c) Cost: $75-90d) Participants need current CPR/AED certificate - At least 2 weeks prior to course.e) Certification good for 2-years.

f) These courses will provide participants a foundation in first aid principles and skills to be able

to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate medical

services (EMS) response. Each course is approximately 16 hours long (in 2 sessions,

Saturdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) and requires participants to complete both sessions.

Participants will be required to apply hands on skills that will be covered in class. The course

fee includes a useful American Red Cross workbook and reference cards. Participants should

wear comfortable clothing that enables them to preform first aid skills including focused assessments of simulated injuries.

I do now?" You will learn skills and abilities to make sound decisions in emergency situations. From the Patient Assessment System through traumatic, medical, and environmental emergencies, you'll experience a wide variety of topics designed to prepare you to act if an accident occurs. This course is ideal for trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals in remote locations. The course begins at 9am each day and runs through 6pm, with a 1-hour break midday. Minimum age is 16 years old. No prerequisites. Successful completion results in a NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute Wilderness First Aid certification. Recertification: If you hold a current or in grace year WMI certification, this course may be used to recertify your Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Advanced First Aid and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certification. Participants using the WFA to recertify their WFR need to pass both a written and a practical test.
