A note from Fearghus Conchir, Dance Curator:

This Autumn and Winter, Firkin Crane presents is full of fresh new work from some of the countrys most established and from some of its newest choreographers.

The season opens with a premiere. Its a duet from Laura Murphy and Rob Heaslip that excited audiences with its strong dancing and punchy choreography when it previewed at this summers Re-Presenting Ireland showcase. Thanks to a Firkin Crane production residency, Cork audiences will be the first to see Wunderbar in full.

Lurky! Lurky! is a new work by Emma Fitzgerald and ine Stapleton that comes direct from the Dublin Fringe Festival. The duo are provocative, engaging, clever and were embraced by Cork audiences when they made their first visit to Firkin Crane last year.

This Halloween, we have a Firkin Craneproduced show, Dance Spooktacular, that brings the energy and talent of local dance students and enthusiasts to Firkin Cranes stage. Expect an evening of fright-filled entertainment for all ages.

For November, two of the islands finest dance companies come together in Neither Either. The piece is choreographed by Liz Roche for dancers from her own company and from Belfast-based Maiden Voyage. This cross-border collaboration is about being in two minds at once and I expect it to be exquisite.

In December, theres an opportunity to see three different takes on the world and three different styles of performing in solos from Oona Doherty, Emma Fitzgerald and Siobhn N Dhuinnn.

Meanwhile, throughout the season theres an installation by Mairead Vaughan and Dara OBrien in the Dance Interactive space. TerrainSkin combines video, dance and music to bring a moment of beautiful reflection into the heart of the city. Its free to visit whenever the building is open.

As well as bringing you these performances and presentations, Firkin Crane is busy with classes, workshops, and rehearsals of all kinds for all people. You can find out about whats available on our new website and if you want to talk about what youve seen, dont forget out Dance Voices blog. Youll find that on the website too. We look forward to hearing from and seeing you.
