    E - Sermon

Fire Starters!Fire in the bible played a significant role in the lives of the children of God. We read about how God

spoke to Moses by fire, He appeared on Mt. Sinai with fire. Fire came down at the consecration of

Solomons temple. The early church started by an outpouring of Holy Ghost fire.

The Bible provides us with some key scriptures that is designed to help us to understand how the fire

of God can be seen and released through our life.

He makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire Psalm 104:4

It is an interesting comparison that when the law was revealed via Moses, 3 thousand people were

killed, and when they were baptized with the holy spirit and fire on the day of Pentecost, 3 thousand

people got saved and were added to the church!

The fire of God is a life giving, forgiving, healing and an empowering anointing that cannot remain

dormant and without effect. Fire itself grows and ignites because of its heat. So it is with uswe must

grow and expand, igniting others with the fire or passion that is in us.

It is unheard of to experience a fire that is lukewarm! So why is it that there are so many believers that

are lukewarm, unignitable, and who have no spiritual growth? Even eskimos know how to enjoy fire!

Has the issues of life taken its toll on the Church! Has the passion for Kingdom living died? God said

that he would rather us be cold NOT lukewarm. The Church (individually and corporately) has to make

some serious decisions about what we produce and how it influences others. We have become

passionate and on fire for great worship songs. We are passionate and on fire for the latest outreach

program. We are passionate and on fire for a new building! But, I believe that the fire of God in us

ignites those who are cold and lukewarm with a desire to worship Him and it will elevate them to a new

level of faith and power in the Holy Ghost!

When fire came down from heaven at the consecration of Solomon's Temple, God said He would dwell

there "forever" according to the King James Bible. The fire on the altar, according to many Bible

translations, was to be an "everlasting" fire, but was extinguished a few centuries later.

The fire of God in our lives were never meant to be extinguished! We have allowed circumstances,

issues, church politics to kill the fire that is meant to remain alive in us.

Jeremiah said this, I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name, there is in my heart as it

were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.

Jesus said He came to send fire on the earth and He yearned for it to be kindled. (Luke 12:49)

We need to stir up the flames of God again that resides inside of us so that we cannot but speak about

Him, encouraging and empowering others. Imagine yourself being on so much fire for Jesus that

anyone walking close by would experience it without even touching you? You can feel the heat of the

    fire without ever touching it.

Imagine being in a service where believers are passionate and praising Him with such liberty that

healings take place without any one laying a hand on them. That people on the outside passing by your

church building wander in touched by the Holy Ghost because of the transference of power that

    radiates from within.

Fire is never static. It moves. It seeks to consume. This is true whether it be the hateful fire of man's

anger or the passion to bring healing, joy, and love to those around them. Fire always produces

change. It will force one to act, to respond.

Fires are usually always noticed. They draw attention. Is this not also the case with the fires of anger

or love? An angry person rarely keeps their anger to themselves. They are like a spark. They will

usually ignite, agitate others until a conflict (fire) occurs. In the same way, one burning with love and

compassion, which is like a fire, will spread God's flames of kindness, melting the hearts of those

    around them.

The Christ in you is not dead, dry, or cold! What it requires is a vessel that understands the reason

they were saved, have a genuine love for God and His people (saved and unsaved), and without

shame become proclaimers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

    YOU ARE A FIRE STARTER!

    You are Blessed
