Introduction to Drones for Public Safety & Private Industry

Course Description: An introduction to the useof unmanned aerial systems in public safetyand private industry.

Course length: 4 hours Date/Time: 8/2/17, 1:00-5:00pTuition: $25

Content includes: • FAA regulations • Overview of aircraft • Data acquisition and analysis • Flight demonstrations

Course outcomes:At the end of the course the student shall: 1. Understand the FAA regulations regarding the use of drones in public safety and private industry. a. Understand Part 107 requirements b. Understand the requirements of a COA c. Understand the use of airspace waivers 2. Understand the types of aircraft, data acquisition capabilities, and special uses of aircraft.

As part of the course, several aircraft will be �own. Use of streaming video, mapping, and use of thermal imaging will be demonstrated. If there is enough interest, we will schedule a 32-hour advanced course later in the year. That course will include hands-on �ying.
