DEPARTMENT 10 4-H and Vocational F.F.A.

Eligibility: 4-H Club Members must be age 5 but not have passed their 21st birthday by January 1 of this year. Exhibitors must be 4-H members, carrying a project in the field in which they wish to make entry and be under the supervision of the Penn State University Cooperative Extension Service by July Ist preceding the Fair. The F.F.A. National Charter allows 7th and 8th grade students (12 & 13 years of age) who are actively involved in an agricultural instructional program at high school to participate as full members, continuing through age 21. Students enrolled in a Vocational School curriculum must be conducting a project in the class they wish to enter. All entries shall be approved prior to the Fair by a member of PA Department of Education or Agriculture, or their designated representative. All entries must be submitted by, cared for by (in the case of livestock or poultry) and retrieved at the conclusion of the Fair by the actual 4-H or F.F.A. Exhibitor. Exhibitor's Failure to abide by this rule will result in premium forfeiture. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! The 4H and FFA exhibitors must comply with proper 4-H books and cards. Health papers must also be submitted to livestock superintendents at the time of entry to fairgrounds. EXHIBITORS GENERAL RULES 1. All exhibitors agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of Transfer Harvest Home Assoc. 2. Reasonable care will be taken to protect all exhibits on display from all injury and damage but the fair is not, in

any way, to be held responsible for accidents, loss or damage by water, fire, theft, or otherwise, whatever may be the cause or extent of the damage or loss.

3. Decision of the judges shall be final in all cases. 4. It shall be the responsibility of the exhibitor to properly name the article or breed they are entering. Any

exhibit improperly entered will be disqualified. 5. All entries must have been grown, produced, or completed since the last fair by the person whose name appears

on the tag as exhibitor. 6. The fair manager may, at any time, order the removal of any exhibit in bad condition and any article unfit to

show may be excluded. Food products cannot be polluted with any substance or chemical that causes them to become poisonous and unfit to be used.

7. During the judging, buildings are to be closed to everyone except judges, fair officials and necessary attendants. Any exhibitor interfering with or attempting to communicate with the judges while making awards shall forfeit any premium to which he otherwise would have been entitled.

8. In cases where there is no competition, judges may give an award such as they deem the exhibit is worthy to receive. Same rule applies where there are fewer entries in any class than the number of premiums offered.

9. Any person detected tampering with exhibits will be dealt with according to the law. 10. Honorable Mention and Best of Show ribbons will be awarded where judges feel they are merited. 11. The Fair Board and its Supervisors reserve the right to restrict or refuse any and all entries.

2019 GUIDELINES FOR HOMEMAKER ENTRIES

Free Pre-registration deadline for Homemaker Entries is Friday, August 9th, 2019. · Entry registrations received after the deadline of August 9th will require an accompanying registration fee

of $3.00 for every (ten) 10 items. · "How to Register" instructions are on the Official Entry Form. · Open entry for items not pre-registered may be accomplished only during the hours of 11:00 am- 5:00 pm · Youth who are not pre-registered may enter ten (10) items with NO FEE, then pay the regular entry fee for the balance of their entries. Adults who are not pre-registered may enter up to 3 items without paying a fee. · Teens may choose to enter adult classes, but then must enter all their entries as such. (No mixing of Dept. 11 with the other adult departments.)

Entry Day is Monday, August 19th, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm Entries NOT pre-registered must be received by 5:00 pm!

There is no admittance to the Exhibit Building on Tuesday until 5:30 p.m. Pick up of exhibits, prize money, and ribbons is Sunday 3:00pm-6:00pm

Anyone removing an exhibit prematurely will be disqualified from entering and exhibiting next year. Special arrangements can be made for necessary late pick-ups with Mrs. Shari Kays-Whitten.

BABY PHOTO CONTEST Entries will be accepted Monday or Tuesday, August 20th or 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the office. Entry fee of $2 per photo entered. Awards are $25 for 1st place, $15 for 2nd, and $10 for 3rd in each class. Class 1. Baby Photo Contest - child must have been born after July 31, 2016 to be eligible RULES & REGULATIONS:

On the back of photo please provide the child's first name, date of birth, parent's name, address, and phone number All photos MUST be 5"x7"; NO other sizes will be accepted. Hanging frames are acceptable but not required. Transfer Harvest Home Association will not be responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen photos. Photos will be displayed throughout the week of the fair in the Homemaker's Exhibit Building. Fair patrons will vote for their favorite photo(s) by depositing coins. Each cent represents one vote. The photo receiving the most votes will be declared the winner. Contest ends at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. Winners will be announced in the local newspapers. Photos may be retrieved on Sunday, Aug. 25th, from 3-6 p.m. Prizes will be mailed to the winners.
