Principal’s Report
Welcome to Week 11. It has been a very productive term with
lots of activities throughout the weeks. Highlights included the
Stage 2 and Stage 3 excursions and our school Fete. Students
have focused well on their learning programs and are now
looking forward to their well earned break.
Easter Hat Parade and P&C Egg Raffle
Our whole school Easter Hat Parade will begin at 2pm on Friday.
Many students have been busy at home creating their hats. The
focus is on the hats, so clothes are just casual, not dress up. Our
SRC, led by Mrs Taig and Miss Congram, will be the parade
directors. The parade will be followed by the P&C Easter Egg Raffle. Thank you to everyone who has sold
tickets for this raffle. Our P&C is such an important part of our school community and they require everyone’s
support. There are some exciting projects being developed by this committee for Finley Public School.
ANZAC Day March, April 25
This year, ANZAC Day falls in the holidays. Students are requested to meet at the Police Station corner at
10:45am to assemble for the march. Full school uniform is to be worn. Our school ANZAC service will be held
on the first Wednesday of Term 2.
Cross Country Practice
Our whole school Cross Country Carnival will be in Week 2 of next term. In preparation, the students are
participating in a run around the school for about 15 minutes after recess on Mondays to Thursdays. Students
can wear their sports shoes for the next two weeks or they
can bring them in their bags to change into.
Sporting News
We had 5 girls represent the Finley Zone at Riverina Soccer
trials in Albury on Wednesday 2nd April.
The girls combined and played exceptionally well with
students from Tocumwal, Deniliquin South, Mathoura and
Moama. They were ready and willing to play in any position
and are to be congratulated on their efforts and
sportsmanship which they displayed throughout the day.

Reece S represented the Finley Zone at Riverina AFL trials in Jerilderie on
Friday 5th April.
With 44 players vying for the 22 positions in the team there was some fierce
competition. Reece represented his school and zone with great
sportsmanship while showing off some great skills, leadership on the field
and constantly encouraging his teammates.
Reece is pictured with Logan W and Liam S from Tocumwal Public School
On behalf of all the teachers, support staff and administration staff, we wish you a safe and enjoyable Easter
holiday and we look forward to seeing all our students ready to
learn in Term 2.

A Special Thanks to PACER
Stage 3 students have recently undertaken an educational tour of our national capital, Canberra. Students were given
the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage
and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit Canberra as part of
their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government
contributed funding of $20.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate.
With the help of the PACER funding we were able to offer students a range of beneficial learning experiences at
Parliament House, Old Parliament House, Australian War Memorial and the National Electoral Education Centre which
helped to compliment and add meaning and understanding to our unit of study on Australian Government. We are very
appreciative and thankful for this contribution.

seedlings from pests. Containers can be left outside the MKG room on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We need volunteers to help water MKG during the Term 1 holidays. If you can lend a hand, please contact the
