Principal’s Report
Congratulations Emilee Congratulations to Emilee Sneddon who came 17th overall in her 100m Sprint at the New South Wales Primary School Sports Association’s State Athletics Carnival. This is an amazing achievement! Emilee’s time was 15.71 seconds, less than one second behind the overall winner (14.90 seconds). We are very proud of you! Well done on representing your school with pride!
Remembrance Day Yesterday we held a ceremony at school for Remembrance Day, led by our school captains and SRC. Thank you to Mrs McKenna for all your work in organising the students to remember those who did not return home. A minutes silence was held at 11am. I would like to congratulate all students on the respectful and responsible way they conducted themselves throughout the assembly.
Joffa’s Toon School Students enjoyed their sessions with Jeff ‘Joffa’ Taylor on Thursday last week. Joffa reiterated that we need to not get caught up in a fixed mindset, we need to be open to learning, take responsibility for our actions, always give things a go and
ensure we listen. I was impressed by the drawings produced by students, especially in the K-2 classes!

Bullying Summit Thank you to the ten students who submitted their application to attend the Bullying Summit in Sydney. I was very impressed with the ideas and projects students wanted to see implemented. We submitted two applications and unfortunately they were not successful, and we will not travel to Sydney this time. I received some very positive feedback, which I will pass on to students. As a school we will be working together to stamp out bullying.
Year 7 Transition Year 6 students will attend Finley High School on Thursday for a ‘Taster Day’ in preparation for Year 7 in 2020. Students will need to be at Finley High by 8.50am and will attend Finley High for the whole school day, with school finishing at 3.15pm. Students are able to catch the bus if this is their normal mode of transport to/from school and will be met by high school staff at the bus gates in the morning and assisted to ensure they get the correct bus home in the afternoon. For further information please see the note being sent home with all Year 6 students today. Finley High School are urgently seeking the return of enrolment forms to ensure a smooth start to the year. Bully Zero Foundation Visit Thank you to the parents who were able to join us for the information session last night. Students and staff have also participated in the workshops. We learnt some important facts and statistics about bullying, why it occurs and what we can all do to stop it. One of the most important messages, given to students was about being an ‘Upstander’. This is the most powerful way that we can change bullying behaviour for good. Public Education Foundation – Design a Card Competition The Public Education Foundation gives out hundreds of scholarships within public schools across Australia and each year they send out Christmas and Thank You cards to donors, supporters and volunteers. Students from Year 1-6 are invited to enter a competition to design a Thank You & Christmas Card for 2019. Students who are selected as winners will receive 25 copies of their card and the school will receive 100 printed cards. Winners will also be acknowledged with their name being published on the card and will be published on the Public Education Foundation Website. More details, including rules and judging criteria are available from the front office. Please submit all entries to the school office by Wednesday 13th November. K-9 Teach Visits Our school has been very lucky to have Boofred and Melissa from K9 Teach coming every Wednesday to meet with the students and to get lots of pats. Some students like reading to Boofred, while others enjoy listening to a story while relaxing with Boofred.
Each class will be handing out colouring sheets today and when you have coloured Boofred, write your name and class on the back and return it to your teacher or the office before Wednesday 20 November. Melissa and Boofred will look through the entries and will choose 3 pictures to receive prizes in Week 7. Get colouring and good luck!
Have a great week!

Ladies of the Land Christmas pamper packs
The Ladies of the Land Christmas pamper packs is an initiative to support women on rural properties who have
been facing severe drought by giving them a surprise “shoebox” of items for Christmas.
As a school community we would like to invite our students and school community to donate with staff, to this
initiative.
We would like items to be sent into school and we can make up the “shoeboxes” to be sent to Orange in
Central West NSW where from there they will be flown by air to ouback properties in Western NSW, or you
may like to make up a shoebox of your own. If you do, the organisers ask that the boxes be wrapped in
newspaper and tied with string and do not contain aerosols. These boxes can also be left at school.
We look forward to sending as many “shoeboxes” as we can
All items would need to be dropped off at the office by Dec 5th to be taken to the pick up venues.
The Finley Lions club have got us off to a great start with a donation of more than 30 bags of beauty and
skincare products that will give us a great start. Please see the flyer in the newsletter or jump onto their
Facebook page for further information in regards to this great initiative.
