Ruth played violin and viola in many groups including Greenwood Music Camp, the Orlando Philharmonic
Orchestra, the Worchester Symphony, the Boston Philharmonic, the Concord Orchestra, and numerous stringensembles.

Lilo Kantorowicz Glick (19152013) was a student of the renowned teachers Carl Flesch, Max Rostal, and
Dorothy Delay. In her illustrious eighty-year teaching and performing career as a violinist, she conducted
master classes at Stanford University and in Shanghai and Nanjing, China, and was a faculty member of the
Mannes College of Music in New York City. She also taught violin and viola at Queens College, the Shanghai
Conservatory, and Bennington College. Her own orchestra experience included posts at the Baltimore, San
Antonio and New Orleans Symphonies, the Womens Orchestra of Montreal, Canada, and Tommy Dorseys
orchestra.
Flutes: Lots 143173
Barbara Trauffer (19342011) received a Bachelor of Music degree from Chicago Musical College of
Roosevelt University. She also received a masters degree in music from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. Miss Trauffers early orchestral experience includes her positions with the Calgary
Philharmonic in Alberta, Canada and the Youngstown Philharmonic in Youngstown, Ohio. She played piccolo
and flute with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra from 1965 to 1993. She was also an accomplished soprano,
and was a soloist with the First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, as well as a member of the choir. She

Benedetto Guitar: Lot 17
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Charles H. Chapman (19502011) became fascinated by the guitar when he
was just seven years old. That led him to Berklee College of Music, and after graduation he joined the
faculty, where he remained for 31 years. A world-class musician and recording artist, Chapman shared the
stage at guitar festivals and shows with such luminaries as Martin Taylor, Kenny Burrell, Joe Negri, Jimmy
Bruno, Frank Vignola, and John Pisano. Chapman wrote nine books on guitar technique, repertoire, and
improvisation, and as a music journalist he interviewed many of the worlds best known guitar players, writing
more than 500 articles for publications including Downbeat, JustJazzGuitar, and GuitarPlayer. He was the
recipient of numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kirkmichael International
Guitar Festival in Kirkmichael, Scotland, and the Massachusetts Meritorious Achievement Citation. After
a career that spanned nearly four decades, Chapman will be remembered by many for his music, writing,
and certainly by former students. As is the case with many guitarists, Chapman owned numerous guitars,
however his Benedetto Manhattan was his pride and joy.
