Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com) is a free search tool that specializes in locating scholarly materials (e.g. journal articles, books, theses, reports, patents, court opinions) across many disciplines and sources (e.g. academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories and universities). What is the “Findit@CityU” link? Full-text access to many of the articles/books found by Google Scholar searches requires paid subscription. Often, you will be denied access or asked to pay when you try to view the full text of a citation in the search results, especially when you are off campus. The “Findit@CityU” links in Google Scholar link your search results to CityU Library’s subscriptions via SFX. They tell you whether online articles are available within the Library’s subscriptions and, if the articles are available, they allow you to access them both on and off campus.

Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com) is a free search tool that specializes in locating scholarly materials (e.g. journal articles, books, theses, reports, patents, court opinions) across many disciplines and sources (e.g. academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories and universities).

What is the “Findit@CityU” link?

Full-text access to many of the articles/books found by Google Scholar searches requires paid subscription. Often, you will be denied access or asked to pay when you try to view the full text of a citation in the search results, especially when you are off campus. The “Findit@CityU” links in Google Scholar link your search results to CityU Library’s subscriptions via SFX. How to set up the “Findit@CityU” link?

On campus: At PCs on campus and on CityU Wireless LAN (WLAN), no configuration is required. The “Findit@CityU” links will automatically appear in your Google Search results.

Off campus: Simple Scholar setting is required:

N.B. If you have a personal RefWorks account, you may also set up the “Import into RefWorks” links in Scholar Settings. The link will appear under each record in your search results.
