y p mentor?
I just went through this process!
I can provide a different set of resources
It can be easier to talk about deep/intimate/uncomfortable essay topics with a peer than with an adult
What’s your story?The Essay
how to develop a topic:- brainstorming exercises- tell your story- talk with friends/family- write! see what flows
resources we provide:- sample essays- student stories- our ears and eyes
top essay tips:- tell your story, be genuine- don’t worry too much about
the prompt or word count- organization matters!
- need time to write drafts
I AM GOING TO COLLEGE
The Interview
Why Interview?
Remember: A bad interview can hurt more than a good interview
can help.
Before the interviewBe aware if the interview is a required component of the application process.
Know the college’s culture.
Who’s doing the interview?
“Do you have any questions?”Good questions can
strengthen an interview. Please don’t ask “how’s your business major?”Ask about what really
matters to your experience.
“So what’s the answer that will get me into your college?”
The only wrong answer is a one word answer.
Share your story.
Don’t just read me your application.
Elaborate
What colleges are really looking for

Authenticity
Kindness
Enthusiasm for Education
