The Interview

Page 16: Finding Your Way To College: Designing An Application …...High Point University, High Point, NC; Katharine Young. Pomona College, Class of 2020. The Key School, Class of 2016. hwaibel@highpoint.edu

Why Interview?

Remember: A bad interview can hurt more than a good interview

can help.

Page 17: Finding Your Way To College: Designing An Application …...High Point University, High Point, NC; Katharine Young. Pomona College, Class of 2020. The Key School, Class of 2016. hwaibel@highpoint.edu

Before the interviewBe aware if the interview is a required component of the application process.

Know the college’s culture.

Who’s doing the interview?

“Do you have any questions?”Good questions can

strengthen an interview. Please don’t ask “how’s your business major?”Ask about what really

matters to your experience.

“So what’s the answer that will get me into your college?”

The only wrong answer is a one word answer.

Share your story.

Don’t just read me your application.

Elaborate
