Finding your favorite artists and studios in a new way
Each summer SCA strives to bring you the best art experience in New England, and this year the 16th annual Open Studio Tour will not disappoint. On two separate weekends, July 20-21 and August 17-18, our coastal communities come alive with Art and Artists! Over 75 artists are waiting for you to visit.
To celebrate the 16th consecutive art tour, SCA just released its very own mobile App. The SCA App can now be on your smartphone or tablet, making the journey of discovery that much easier this summer. To find the app all you have to do is visit Apple App Store, or Google Play, and search for South Coast Artists. The download is Free and easy to do. We’re confident that this added feature will enhance your experience this summer and make it that much easier for you to navigate from studio to studio.
The South Coast is home to many galleries, art centers, and studios featuring local and regional artists, and many with an international reputation. The creative spirit is certainly rich along the South Coast. To round out your journey, there are also farm stands, gift stores, locally-sourced eateries, and an unforgettable coastal landscape making for an unforgettable South Coast adventure.
Each spring SCA artists submit an original work for our annual contest. This year we were fortunate to have Mim Brooks Fawcett, Executive Director and Curator of the Attleboro Arts Museum, as our juror. Her fine reputation as an art professional is well known and respected. This year she chose Claire Bowen of Little Compton as our first place winner. Artists Jane Bregoli of Dartmouth and Meredith Brower of Tiverton were also honored. Please check out their winning works on the other side of this brochure.
In closing, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit and discover new works by the talented artists living and working in the South Coast. We hope they inspire you to take a cherished memory home with you.

Successful works of art stimulate the senses and Breakfast awakens all five at first glance. An intimate image that documents a basic action, Breakfast is filled with joy, movement, and combed cotton. The work presents itself as a memory of Grandma’s kitchen. Only Grandma would have the time, or inclination, to scramble eggs with a beater. This memory is as loving as the wallpaper is vintage.
SECOND PLACE On the Beach

I don’t believe I have ever seen a cow walking on the beach. This, of course, doesn’t mean that farm animals don’t go on vacation. I’m sure they enjoy a getaway as much as the rest of us. But On the Beach appears to be straight from a dreamy children’s book. One where a mom and her shy calf yearn for a change of scenery and make a break for the coast.

The artist offers a compelling mix, a true savory/sweet expression. Antlers vs. aluminum, a delicate composition vs. random scars upon wood, eco-art vs.digital on metal. Forest Deer Mother Mandala is a tribute to earth as mother – unpredictable – with an edge that can surely cut.
