Finding the right resources• The library offers several different kinds of
resources. • We have:• Books• E-books• Online databases with access to millions of journal articles• InterLibrary Loan (for whatever we don’t have)• Librarians and friendly staff to help you find what you need
What’s the difference?
ScholarlyResearch-based, often
peer-reviewed articles written by academics. Written by scholars in that the subject area. Advanced writing style that appeals to scholars and researchers.
JournalisticPopular news style. Approachable, mass-media writing that appeals to a wide audience. Written by journalists who interview specialists, eye witnesses, and scholars.

Sources for Journalistic Articles
• Databases on our e-research page:• Access World News – the latest information and Special
Reports on significant events and issues in the news. Includes Regional and World news.• New York Times• Miami Herald• Academic Search Premier – has an option to find
articles from newspapers and periodicals• LexisNexis Academic – also has an option to search for
popular news
Scholarly/Peer-Reviewed Writing:
• Peer-reviewed articles are available through library databases and subscription services. These articles are published in print and e-journals.

Some ideas to keep in mind:• What are you writing about?• Which environmental issues are you going to explore?• What are some of the concerns surrounding this issue?• What are some views on this issue?• Are you considering this issue from a scientific and/or
political angle?• How has this issue affected regions and/or communities?
