In November 2015, Year 8 students at Acland Burghley (a local Camden School) were given the opportunity to explore and develop their ambition and career aspirations.

Working with industry professionals, the young students created an ad for Prism Eyewear under the theme of finding their future career.

The project provided a range of workshops intended to develop skills in research and planning, photography, and desk top publishing. Inspiring sessions focused on leadership, success and failure with the aim of fostering ambition, aspiration, and resilience.

Anna Laub, Chief Executive Officer at Prism Eyewear, kicked off the project by introducing the concept around the company, as well as her pathway into the industry. This led students to create their own mood boards to be used as inspiration for the ads.

Photographer Kelly Hill helped them develop an awareness of image composition and how it can help strengthen an advertising campaign. The students were therefore encouraged to capture images that promoted the brand as well as representing their future career path.

Richard Huntington, CSO at Saatchi & Saatchi, gave a masterclass that reinforced the central message of not giving up, enthusing about the range of opportunities available in the adverting industry. Students were also given clear direction on how to use copy in ads.

The project was documented throughout by mentors from Film’s Cool, who also provided weekly support and taught key skills in Photoshop and image manipulation.

The result of the workshops is what you see before you: a series of ads that portray their hopes and dreams for the future.
