The theme of the 2017 RAHS Conference is Finding Lost Places, Lost People.Uncovering hidden storieshelpsusbetterunderstandthepastandcanchallengeourunderstandingofhowthepresentcametobe.Historicalsocietieshaveanimportantroletoplayinensuringthattheircommunities’historydoesnotgetlostandthatmembersofthebroadercommunitycanfindoutabouttheirworksothattheytoocanlearnandcontributetothishistory.Lostcommunitiescanberememberedandfoundthroughwrittenarchivalrecords,photographsandvoicerecordings.Thedigitalrevolutionisincreasingaccessibilitytorecordsandprovidingmoretoolstoreachawidergeographicalanddemographicalaudience.TheRAHSinvitesyoutojoinusatour2017conferenceinCowratoexplorethesetopics,learnskillsthatwillsupportyourhistoryprojectsandenjoyopportunitiestonetworkandsharehistorieswithRAHSmembersandfriends.PRECONFERENCEDRINKS:FRIDAY27OCTOBER20175.30pm–CowraJapaneseGardenandCulturalCentreThiseventwillbehostedbyCowraShireCouncilMayorCouncillorBillWest,andwillfeatureaperformancebylocalAboriginaldancers.MrBobGriffiths,ChairmanoftheBoardoftheCowraJapaneseGardenandCulturalCentre,willprovideconferencedelegateswithanhistoricaloverviewoftheGardenanditscentralitytotheCowra-Japanfriendship.Pleasenote:Allspeakers’presentationtitlesareworkingtitles,andwillbeupdated.
