Background Story Dear Church Family and Friends of Lighthouse Church: We want to share with you some recent developments that require genuine prayers by everyone that has any involvement or connection with our church. In 2015, the LORD gave Josh and Brianne Shaw a vision and desire to start a church in Denver where we would be a lighthouse, shinning the light of God’s kingdom. With the help and support of other churches, they started Lighthouse Church 3.5 years ago in a warehouse with 12 people. Eight Months after beginning in a warehouse, Lighthouse moved to Green Mountain High School and grew to around 50-70 people. In May of 2017 we were given the opportunity lease the First Presbyterian Church of Lakewood. Since that time God has continued to draw people to Lighthouse Church and we have grown to the point where 250 to 375 attend each weekend. Plus, we are averaging around 65 new people that are first time visitors each month. In October of 2018 a sister-church in our denomination, Garden Park Church, with a 60-year history of vibrant ministry had decreased in size to around 25 people. While the congregation had decreased in size, for the past 20 years the gym facility of Garden Park Church has been home to Community Ministry, an independent non-profit food-bank and ministry that serves over 40,000 people with food, clothing, medical services, VBS and more. So, in the fall of 2018, the Garden Park Church voted to dissolve as a congregation and donate all of its assets (church, gym, parsonage and bank accounts) to Lighthouse Church. When the transfer of these assets were made by the Garden Park Church congregation to Lighthouse Church, everyone’s intent was that Lighthouse would continue to meet at our current Lakewood campus (with a long-term lease or purchasing the building) and that we would start a a satellite campus at the Garden Park location in the fall of 2019. But in recent months several very significant things have happened that have put us in a place where we have needed to carefully and prayerfully seek God’s will, purpose and leading for what will happen in the future. Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in the heart of a man, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.” 1. At the end of January we were informed by the current owners of our

Lakewood church building (the Denver Presbytery) that our lease would finish in August of this year, that there was no intention of allowing Lighthouse Church to purchase the building, and that the Presbytery had

plans in 2020 to reestablish a church presence from their own denomination in the building.

2. In researching any and all available properties in Lakewood we discovered there were no buildings big enough or they were all too expensive to purchase. We received information on many possible locations, but none of them were realistic options for the future home of our church.

3. When we realized that a viable option in Lakewood was not available, we

began looking for buildings in the same area as Garden Park Church and Community Ministries. We realized that if we were unable to find a suitable location in Lakewood, perhaps a central location for our Lakewood campus, our plans for a Garden Park campus, and a place for Community Ministries was possibly what God was directing us towards.

4. We then learned that the Denver Sports Center indoor soccer facility (DSC)

that is 3.5 miles south of our campus and 2.7 miles west of the Garden Park Campus was available to us at a drastically reduced price below its appraised value.

5. As we approached the owners of the DSC building, we then found out that

our denomination would be willing to loan us the funds to help with the building purchase as long as certain conditions were met.

6. In order to provide funding for the DSC facility, we would need to merge

our Lakewood congregation and Garden Park satellite congregation plans into this new location. To do this, we would need to put the three Garden Park buildings that have been donated to us up for sale, forgoing our intent to plant a separate campus, and pursue a centralized location where we could reach BOTH the Lakewood neighborhoods we are currently serving and more South Denver neighborhoods, including the neighborhood that Garden Park was previously reaching. If God allowed us to buy the DSC facility, we would also be able to provide Community Ministries the option to move into expanded space at the DSC building or pursue other alternative locations for their future ministry.

7. The elders have been prayerfully considering all of these matters and have

been having conversations and communications with Garden Park leaders, Community Ministries, the owners of the DSC soccer facility, our denomination, and the City of Denver about next steps we will need to take to discern, discover and decide God’s will for our future.

While we do not fully know what our future holds, we know that God fully holds our future! So, we would like to ask anyone and every who cares about these matters to begin to pray through the prayer requests in this booklet

every day for 30 days.

At the end of these 30 days, we will gather all of the prayer booklets, and if God has graciously provided us a new home,

we will use the pages of these prayer booklets to create a FINDING HOME PRAYER WALL

with all the prayers mounted on it.

We are also inviting people to consider fasting one one-meal-a-day (if they are able to do this) to give them more focused

time for prayer for the next 30 days.

Joel 1:14, 3:4

PRAY FOR OUR LAKEWOOD CONGREGATION

Psalm 143:8 Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk,

for I give myself to you.

DAY 3

PRAY FOR THE GARDEN PARK LEADERS &

CONGREGATION THAT DONATED THEIR ASSETS TO US WITH THE DESIRE FOR A LIGHTHOUSE SATELLITE

CHURCH IN THEIR LOCATION.

Phil 4:19 My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

DAY 4

PRAY FOR COMMUNITY MINISTRIES ASK GOD TO HELP THE CM BOARD AND STAFF DECIDE OVER THE NEXT YEAR THE BEST LOCATION FOR THEM

TO BE ABLE TO SERVE THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THEY ARE HELPING WITH DONATED FOOD AND

COMMUNITY SERVICES.

Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

DAY 5

PRAY FOR ETHAN AND SHAYNA LAING THEY WERE BROUGHT ON STAFF TO LEAD THE

GARDEN PARK SATELLITE CAMPUS. WHILE WE WAIT FOR GOD TO REVEAL HIS WILL CONCERNING THE DSC

PROPERTY, THEY ARE PROVIDING VALUABLE LEADERSHIP IN THE VOLUNTEER, FACILITIES, HOME

GROUP, AND PRAYER MINISTRIES.

Psalm 90:17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes,

establish the work of our hands!

DAY 6A

PRAY FOR THE PASTORS, STAFF, LEADERS

AND VOLUNTEERS AS THEY TEACH, SHEPHERD AND SERVE THE PEOPLE

AND CHILDREN GOD HAS BROUGHT TO US AND CONTINUES TO BRING TO US AT LIGHTHOUSE.

1 Peter 5:2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care.

DAY 6B

PRAY FOR PASTOR JOSH, BRIANNE AND

THEIR FAMILY LEADING AND SHEPHERDING A CONGREGATION IS DIFFICULT WORK AND NEEDING

TO MAKE MAJOR DECISIONS ABOUT A FUTURE LOCATION GREATLY INCREASES THE DEMANDS ON A PASTOR. PRAY FOR THEIR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY’S

WELL-BEING DURING THIS TIME.

Psalm 128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

DAY 7

PRAY FOR THE ELDER TEAM AS THEY SEEK THE LORD’S LEADING STEP BY STEP.

Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.

Be shepherds of the church of God.

PRAY FOR SUNDAY MORNING LOGISTICS AT

OUR CURRENT LAKEWOOD CAMPUS THE PARKING, SOUND/ACOUSTICS IN THE

SANCTUARY, CHILDREN’S CLASSROOM SPACE, ETC. IN OUR CURRENT BUILDING WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR A

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE AND 300-400+ PEOPLE.

I Cor 14:40 Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

DAY 9

PRAY FOR PROTECTION AND

STRENGTH IN THE BATTLE ASK GOD TO HELP US AS WE ENCOUNTER ALL SORTS

OF SPIRITUAL ATTACKS IN THIS JOURNEY.

Deut 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with

you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Psalm 86:11 Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.

DAY 10

PRAY FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS ON THE

OWNERS OF THE DENVER SPORTS CENTER ASK THE LORD TO BLESS THE OWNERS AS THEY CONSIDER SELLING US THIS PROPERTY FOR OUR

FUTURE CHURCH HOME.

Numbers 6:24-25 The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine

on you and be gracious to you.

DAY 11

PRAY FOR THE PRESBYTERY LEADERSHIP THE PRESBYTERY LEADERS WILL MEET AND MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT OUR LEASE AGREEMENT (THAT

ENDS IN AUGUST) AND THEIR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE. ASK GOD TO GUIDE AND BLESS THEM IN THEIR

DECISIONS.

Proverbs 4:26 Plan carefully what you do, and whatever you do will turn out right.

DAY 12

PRAY FOR THE SOCCER TEAM AND FAMILIES HUNDREDS OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN CURRENTLY

USE THE DENVER SPORTS CENTER FOR PRACTICE TIMES AND GAMES. PRAY FOR WISDOM AS THEY

WOULD NEED TO MAKE PLANS TO USE THE OTHER FACILITIES AND FIELDS IN THE AREA.

1 Tim 2:1 Pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them.

DAY 13

PRAY FOR SUMMIT ACADEMY

MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL THE SCHOOL NEXT DOOR LEASES SPACE AT THE DSC

BUILDING FOR MUSIC AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES. IF GOD ALLOWS US TO PURCHASE THE

BUILDING, PRAY WE WOULD HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM AND COULD BE A

BLESSING TO THEIR STAFF AND STUDENTS AS THEY CONTINUE TO LEASE SPACE DURING THE WEEK.

Ephesians 5:15-16 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every

opportunity.

DAY 14

PRAY FOR GOD’S FAVOR IN OUR

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY OF DENVER PRAY WE HAVE A GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP

AND DON’T ENCOUNTER ANY HIGH COST RENOVATIONS OR CHANGES THAT WOULD BE NEEDED FOR OUR CHURCH TO USE THE DSC

BUILDING.

Romans 13:4 The one in authority is God's servant for your good.

DAY 15

PRAY FOR WISDOM FOR THE MB

FOUNDATION AND THOSE INVOLVED WITH

THE FUNDING AND FINANCIAL DECISIONS

Luke 14:28 Don't begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating

the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?

DAY 16

PRAY FOR GENEROUS GIFTS GOD HAS BLESSED SOME PEOPLE WITH ASSETS AND

FINANCIAL RESOURCES THAT COULD GREATLY HELP LIGHTHOUSE WITH THE COSTS TO PURCHASE AND

RENOVATE THIS BUILDING. PRAY THAT THEY WOULD BE EXCITED TO GIVE TO THIS PROJECT.

I Chron 29:14 But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this?

Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

DAY 17

PRAY FOR OUR

CONGREGATION’S GENEROSITY ASK GOD TO MAKE PEOPLE WILLING AND EXCITED TO GIVE THEIR OWN FINANCIAL GIFTS AND PLEDGES FOR

THIS PROJECT.

Exodus 35:21 All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings

to the LORD.

DAY 18

PRAY FOR THE FUTURE PEOPLE WE

COULD REACH IN A NEW LOCATION

AND LARGER FACILITY THE DSC FACILITY WOULD ALLOW US TO SERVE MORE

INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, FAMILIES AND TEENS FOR YEARS TO COME. AND IF COMMUNITY MINISTRIES DECIDES TO MOVE WITH US OVER TIME, TENS OF

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WILL BE SERVED EACH YEAR AT THIS FACILITY.

Galatians 6:10 As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.

DAY 19

PRAY FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE

AND PROVISIONS THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE

PURCHASED AND DONATED TO CREATE THE SANCTUARY, CHILDREN’S SPACE, GYMNATORIUM, CAFÉ, CLASSROOMS, FELLOWSHIP SPACE, LOBBY,

OFFICES, AND WELCOME AREAS IN THE NEW FACILITY.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.

DAY 20

PRAY FOR NEEDED CONTRACTORS,

COMPANIES AND PROFESSIONALS ASK GOD TO CONNECT US WITH THE RIGHT EXPERTS

THAT CAN HELP US PURCHASE, RENOVATE AND EQUIP THE BUILDING.

Exodus 31:3 God has filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all

manner of workmanship.

DAY 21

PRAY FOR OTHER BUILDING

OPTIONS AND POSSIBILITIES IF FOR ANY REASON, LIGHTHOUSE IS UNABLE TO PURCHASE THE DSC BUILDING FOR OUR FUTURE

HOME WE WILL NEED THE LORD TO SHOW US WHERE HE WANTS US TO MOVE NEXT.

PRAY FOR THE THREE

WILL ULTIMATELY OWN, OCCUPY AND USE THOSE PROPERTIES IN THE YEARS TO COME.

PRAY FOR THE REPUTATION AND

INTEGRITY OF LIGHTHOUSE CHURCH THIS IS A CHALLENGING JOURNEY WE FIND

OURSELVES ON. ASK GOD TO HELP US WALK IN HUMILITY AND INTEGRITY AS WE CONTINUE TO SEEK

THE LORD’S LEADING STEP BY STEP.

PRAY FOR THE TENANTS AND

WORKERS AT DSC A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WORK AT THIS FACILITY. PRAY FOR GOD’S BLESSING ON THEIR LIVES AND THAT WE WOULD SHOW AND SHARE GOD’S LOVE WITH THEM.

DAY 25

PRAY FOR NEEDED WORKERS

AND VOLUNTEERS IF WE ARE ABLE TO PURCHASE THE DSC BUILDING,

HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF WORKER AND VOLUNTEER HOURS WOULD BE NEEDED TO GET THE

BUILDING READY. WE WILL NEED HELP MOVING, CLEANING, PAINTING, FIXING, TILING, CARPETING, PLUMBING, INSTALLING, ORGANIZING AND DOING

WHATEVER IS NEEDED TO TURN THE DSC BUILDING INTO A GREAT CHURCH FACILITY.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.

DAY 26

PRAY FOR THE DESIGN OF HOW THE

BUILDING WILL WORK, LOOK AND FEEL PRAY THE LORD WILL HELP US TURN THIS FACILITY INTO A WARM AND WELCOMING PLACE AND SPACE

FOR EVERYONE WHO ENTERS ITS DOORS.

Proverbs 24:3-4 A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.

DAY 27

PRAY FOR THE PURCHASE AND

CLOSING PROCESS WHENEVER ANYONE BUYS A PROPERTY, THERE ARE

LOTS OF THINGS THAT CAN BE DISCOVERED OR HAPPEN ALONG THE WAY THAT CAN DISRUPT OR DERAIL THE PURCHASE. PRAY FOR GOD’S GRACE,

WISDOM AND HELP IN THIS JOURNEY.

Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage.

DAY 28

PRAY AGAINST ABOUT ANY ATTACKS THAT

COULD ARISE IN THIS JOURNEY IN ANY MAJOR FACILITY MOVE BY A CHURCH,

ATTACKS CAN COME FROM MANY PLACES – INTERNAL, EXTERNAL, FINANCIAL, GOVERNMENTAL, PUBLIC

PETITIONS, NEWS SOURCES, AND MANY OTHER PLACES.

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their

vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!

DAY 29

PRAY FOR UNITY AMONG

LIGHTHOUSE CHURCH MEMBERS WE WILL HAVE TO HAVE AN OFFICIAL MEETING OF

CHURCH MEMBERS TO APPROVE THE LOAN FINANCING NEEDED FOR THIS OR ANY OTHER

BUILDING PROJECT. PRAY FOR GODLY UNITY AMONG OUR MEMBERS. ALSO, PRAY FOR MORE PEOPLE WHO ATTEND LIGHTHOUSE TO DECIDE TO GO THROUGH MEMBERSHIP CLASSES AND OFFICIALLY BECOME A

MEMBER OF LIGHTHOUSE IN THE FUTURE.

Eph 4:33 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

DAY 30

PRAY FOR GOD’S WILL TO BE DONE ASK GOD TO CLEARLY SHOW US HIS GOOD, PERFECT

AND PLEASING WILL.

Romans 12:2 …test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
