This sale is part of Eastwood Arts Festival.

I will start with the good news. We held a Table Top sale at our Coffee Morning on March 31

st which raised over £105.00

and because it proved very popular we are going to make this a quarterly event. The next one being at our Home and Garden Fair on Saturday June 4

th as part of Volunteers

Week. I would like to say thank you to Mandy for all her help organising the Table Top, and to the following shops on the High Street for their kind donations, Boots, Burrows & Close, Rowells, Bargain Booze, Memories & Eastwood Post Office. If you have any items you no longer require please contact the office.

A second thank you comes from Nottingham University Hospitals, from the staff & babies on the Neonatal unit, for all the knitted garments sent to them. We have also raised £50 by selling Easter bunnies, chicks & baskets. Thank you to all our knitters out there. Please keep the wool coming.

Now to the serious items, unfortunately we have not been too successful with our funding, as have many other organisations in the area. We have received grant aid from NCC for our Transport scheme, and a donation from Nuthall Parish Council, but only a very small grant for our Be a Friend Scheme. We are presently looking for funding for our furniture scheme.

I would like to thank the staff & Management Committee for their continued support in these difficult times. We remain very optimistic about our future at EVB, we value all the help that you have given us in the past, and hope this will continue in the future. I hope you all have a lovely Summer.

The Be A Friend Scheme exists to help people who, through no fault of their own, may feel isolated and alone. The aim is to provide

companionship by a volunteer visiting the person in their own home.

We urgently need new volunteer visitors. This is a fulfilling role, for which no previous experience is necessary. With a commitment of just 1-2 hours a week or fortnight, you could really make a difference to someone’s life.

If you would like to find out more please call in or telephone Barbara on 01773 537895.

If you have a few hours to spare and own a car, we need you!

Our Transport Scheme benefits elderly and disabled people in North Broxtowe who are unable to use public transport. We urgently need more volunteer drivers to continue this much needed and appreciated service.

If you enjoy helping people and would like to contribute to your community, please pop into the office, or call Jane on 01773 537892 to find out about becoming a volunteer driver.

Colleen Kelly from Voluntary Action Broxtowe is at the Volunteer Bureau on Thursdays from 10 to 3 pm for advice about volunteering in this area. To book an appointment with Colleen please ring us on 01773 535255.

For children/babies (0-5 years) and their carers.

Our group offers a warm and friendly atmos-phere. It is a great place to chat and make new friends, while your children play in a safe and fun environment.

We have an enclosed area for babies, and an enclosed outside play area, which is opened up when the weather permits, with plenty of space for the toddlers to run around and play with the many toys we have avail-able.

Dads, Mums, Grandparents, Childminders - Everyone welcome!

We meet every Thursday (school term-time only) 9.30am to 11.30 am at Kimberley Parish Hall, Newdigate Street, Kimberley. A fee of £1.20 is charged for 1 adult and 1 child, which includes a hot drink for adults and juice and a biscuit for children.

Come along and check us out; no need to book a place.
