To the saints gathered at Saint Paul Church in Amarillo:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
“ I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” Paul wrote those words to the Ephesian Church, expressing his gratitude for their faith in Christ and their love for others.
Paul’s words very much express my feeling about Saint Paul Church! Your loving-kindness is more than I could ever ask for. The welcome I’ve received is a clear demonstration of your own faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I want to thank everyone for the words of welcome, the cards, the gift cards, money, and the pounding gifts too! People have been incredibly kind and helpful. I especially want to thank you all in advance for your forbearance as I work to remember names.
Saint Paul Church has a wonderful legacy on which to build. I am blessed to stand on the shoulders of some great Pastors who have served here before me.
Over the next several months, I’ll be doing a lot of listening as I get to know the Saint Paul family. Beyond that, I have three immediate goals:
1) Continue caring for the saints of Saint Paul Church;
2) Reach out to Saint Paul members who no longer attend; and
3) Re-invigorate the evangelistic witness of the church.
I know I can count on the help of many as we partner together in ministry in the months ahead. Only with your help and the enabling power of the Holy Spirit can we continue building on the great legacy that began here in the 1950s! As always,
God’s best to you!
Pastor Bill

Upcoming Activities
Lots of fun activities are being planned for the church family of Saint Paul this Fall. Make plans to join us often. • August 20 We will celebrate back to school and back to Saint Paul. After the 10:50 service, we will have a ribbon cutting and blessing of the new playground equipment. Then we will gather in Corinthian Hall for an all church lunch. • August 23 Wednesday night activities will resume. Reverend Bill Ivins will begin a 13 week study of the book of Revelation. • September 14 We will begin a new Women's Bible Study in the church parlor at 9:00. This class is for all interested women in the church, and we will be sending a special invitation to the moms in our Children's Day Out and Preschool Programs to join our study. Pam Zwickey will be the teacher of this study. • October 13 An all church Sock Hop. We will collect socks for the Pavilion Patrons
Program, enjoy music, root beer floats and popcorn together. Watch your emails and the August newsletter for more information on these and other upcoming programs. Pam Zwickey
The SPY mission trip was a success! We partnered with Faith Southwest for a total of 26 youth! We traveled to San An-tonio and we stayed on the Providence Place campus. We spent three days working hard on several projects on the cam-pus. We split into groups so that we could work several projects and everyone would have plenty to do. During our three work days we were able to re-upholster all of the pews in the chapel, plant a tree, weed the garden area and hoe out the grass from the garden path, wash all the windows, and paint an awning that was recently constructed. Every evening we had a prayer and devotion time and it was wonderful to see these young people developing a love for each other and be-ing strengthened in their faith through service. Our last day in San Antonio was spent at Sea World to reward the kids for all their hard work. My favorite experience was on our first work day. A storm had come through and we had to cut our work day short. As we were hanging out in the gym we could hear the thunder and lightning and it was LOUD. One particular boom raised the hair on my arms. Once it passed and we were able to look outside, we realized lightning had struck a tree right outside the gym. It was an awesome reminder of God's power and His protection. I also would like to say a huge thank you to our adult volunteers, Tommy and Karen Jaramillo. Thank you all for your prayers and support!
We had two SPY members sing in Spirit Wind this year, Kristen and Keith Worley! Kristen had a voice and a French horn
solo. They both did a fantastic job and we are so proud of them!
