Dear Assembly Leader,

Our culture is embracing all things culinary. Millions tune in each week toFood Network shows like Iron Chef America and Ace of Cakes. BobbyFlay, Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, and Alton Brown have become householdname~. A new focus on healthy eating resulted in the planting of anorganic garden at the White House, and more and more households arechoosing home-cooked meals as an affordable way to increase family timeand improve nutrition.

We ~amed our cate "Shake It Up" because Jesus calls us to "shake up"our lives and become his followers. The Bible gives us the recipe: beready for God's call, give happily to God and to others, believe fully inJesus as God's Son, remember Jesus' life and teachings, and celebrateGod forever. SHAKEIT Up CAFEintroduces your children to stories of biblicalfestivals that reveal these ingredients and link the Old Testament, the NewTestament, and our lives today.

With a theme that clearly connects to the Bible, engaging activities thatappeal to boys and girls of all ages, and easier-than-ever decoratingoptions, SHAKEIT Up CAFEis the perfect choice for your VBS. Thecurriculum11 introduces children to a deeper relationship with God through Jesus

Christ11 inspires students and leaders with activities that are developed, tested,

and refined to bring the Word of God alive to all who experience it11 includes Bible stories that give a sequential view of the Bible,

beginning with two Old Testament stories followed by three NewTestament stories that introduce Jesus and teach about his ministry, death, resurrection, and the new life we have in him

CHEF: (Looking a bit rattled) Oh, hello! Youmust be the new chefs-in-training.Welcome to Shake It Up Cafe! I'm ChefBasil, the owner and head chef. It's greatto meet all of you.

I'm sorry, but I'm not very organizedtoday. My assistant, Sous Chef Chip, hasbeen given a wonderful opportunity to betrained by the great Chef Gourmando. Ina little bit, we'll check in with Chip to seehow he's doing. I'm very happy for him,but it's left me a little short-handed. Itlooks like I'm going to have to hire a newassistant. (Puts up "Help Wanted" sign) Ihope I find someone soon.

SCRAPS: (Popping up) I'm here!

CHEF: (Looks at Scraps, then back to thechildren) Am I seeing things, or did araccoon just come into my cafe? I mustbe losing my mind! (Shakes head)

Anyway, during your time in training atShake It Up Cafe, all of you chefs willlearn God's recipe for living so you cancarry it out into the world. Be ready, because this recipe really shakes thingsup! In fact, here at the cafe we have asong that's all about shaking it up.

(Invite the music leader to teach "ShakeIt Up. " Scraps learns the song with thechildren.)

CHEF: That was great! At Shake It Up Cafe,we're going to learn how to live inresponse to the great love God has forus. Through the Bible, God has given us arecipe for living, and we're going to carryout that recipe into the world. What anexciting time this is going to be!

SCRAPS: You bet! I am ready to go!

CHEF: (Noticing Scraps again) I don't believe it.There really is a raccoon in my cafe. (ToScraps) Can I help you?

SCRAPS: No, but I can help you. The name isScraps, and I'm here for the job.

CHEF: (Incredulous) To help me at Shake ItUp Cafe? Do you know anything aboutcooking?

SCRAPS: Ha! I'm an expert!

CHEF: An expert, huh? Well, let's try a littletest. What's in a PB&J?

SCRAPS: Potato butter and jelly, preferably onsourdough.

CHEF: Potato butter?

SCRAPS: I'm allergic to peanuts.

CHEF: I see. Well, that's pretty close. Can youtell me what makes bread rise?

SCRAPS: Of course. (Raising his arm in the air)You put your hand under the loaf of breadand lift. (Pauses a beat) I'm kidding. Yeastis what makes bread rise. Without yeast, you have flat bread. I like flat breads. They have funny names like matzo, naan, tortilla, taftoon, and yufka. Love yufka. Ionce baked a yufka that a bunny buddyof mine said was better than carrot cake!

CHEF: Wow. I'm not sure what to say.(Thinking) I really do need the help .... OK.You're hired! What's the first thing youshould do now that you're going to beworking at Shake It Up Cafe?

SCRAPS: Wash my paws. It's very importantthat you wash your paws before and afterhandling food.

CHEF: That's right, chefs, remember to washyour paws-I mean hands-before youstart cooking.

(A beep sounds, alerting Chef Basil that thevideo chat is about to start.)

CHEF: Did you hear that, boys and girls? Thatsound means it's time for the video chatwith my assistant, Chip. Let's see howhe's doing with Chef Gourmando.

******************BEGIN VIDEO SEGMENT*****************

(After a few seconds of static, the screenclears to show an extreme close-up of a youngboy who seems to be adjusting the camera. Inthe background, Chef Gourmando is poundingon a large piece of bread dough with his fists, sending a cloud of flour in the air.)

CHIP: Can you see me, Chef Basil? Wow!Look at all the new chefs out there! Areyou here at Shake It Up Cafe to learnto carry out God's recipe? My name isChip, and I'll be talking with you from thekitchen of the famous Chef Gourmando. He's going to teach me some of hisworld-famous recipes so I can make myown new creations for the cafe.

(While Chip is talking, he is measuringout dry ingredients.) My first lesson isabout something called mise en place(pronounced MEEZ-en-plahs). That'sa French cooking term that means"everything in its place." Mise en place islike what you will learn in your first lessonat Shake It Up Cafe-be ready.

GOURMANDO: (Walking toward Chip and thecamera) Chip, who are you talking to?(Looking at the camera) Oh! Hello, I'm ChefGourmando. Welcome to my kitchen! What wonderful cooking talent I see outthere!

(To Chip) Chip, go knead the dough, but stay close by. A good apprentice isalways ready to answer the call of thehead chef.

(Chip moves away from the camera. Thepile of dough keeps getting bigger duringGourmando's next lines.)

GOURMANDO: I was just teaching Chip thebasics of making bread. The recipe isvery simple. To make the dough, youcombine the proper amounts of water, flour, salt, and butter. Sometimes youadd yeast to make the dough rise, butyou have to add just the right amount,or your bread will fail. Too little yeast, and your bread will be hard and chewy;too much yeast, and it becomes dryand gritty. You must use very precisemeasurements to ensure that everyloaf comes out perfectly. In my kitchen, however, I like to experiment and shakethings up. A true artist makes a newcreation for every meal.

(Gourmando is oblivious to what is going onbehind him. Chip is wrestling with what is nowa huge pile of dough that continues to rise.)

CHIP: Uh, Chef Gourmando ....

GOURMANDO: (Ignoring Chip) To be a greatchef, one must always be ready at amoment's notice, because you neverknow when inspiration will strike-

CHIP: Uh, Chef?

GOURMANDO: What? What is it? (Notices doughfor the first time) Oh! (Runs to get a rollingpin and starts beating on the dough)

CHIP: (Returns to the camera with flour onhis face) Well, friends, as you can see, adding yeast to bread dough makes a bigdifference. Chef Gourmando has taughtme that being ready is an importantingredient in any recipe. You need to beprepared for anything, both in the kitchenand in your faith.

GOURMANDO: (Yelling at the dough) Aaaah!Chip! Be ready to run!

CHIP: (To camera) Oops! Gatta go. Listencarefully today about how you must beready for God's instructions.

(The screen goes black as there is a huge pop, implying the dough exploded.)

*******************END VIDEO SEGMENT******************

CHEF: Wow. Scraps, what did you make ofthat?

SCRAPS: I think I'll stick to making breadwithout yeast!

CHEF: Chefs, every recipe has ingredientsthat you measure and mix togetherto create a special dish. At Shake ItUp Cafe, you're going to learn aboutingredients you can add to your lifeto make you a better follower of God.We are going to call these our secretingredients. But they really aren't asecret at all. You can share the secretingredients with everyone!

Today's secret ingredient is to "be readyfor God." When you hear someone sayany of the secret ingredients at ShakeIt Up Cafe, I want you to respond with"Shake It Up!" (Use the "shake it up"motion from the theme song. If the childrenare seated, they can raise their hands in theair and wave them back and forth. Practicethe call-and-response a few times.)

SCRAPS: I'll keep my ears open for that!

(If you are going to have mission time duringassembly, ask your mission leader to come talkto the children.)

CHEF: OK, chefs, time for you to be on yourway. We'll see you back here soon.

(Play "Shake It Up" as the children leave.)

CHEF: Welcome back, chefs! It looks like youreally got cookin' today! That reminds meof one of our songs.

(Invite the music leader to lead everyone in"Let's Get Cookin '. '')

SCRAPS: I needed that exercise. I sure did myfair share of eating at Shake It Up Cafe.

CHEF: Me too. I enjoyed a good snack.

SCRAPS: Is there such thing as a bad snack?

CHEF: Well, all snacks may taste good, butsome are better for you than others.

SCRAPS: I know what you mean. Talkingabout bread today reminded me thatfoods in the grain group, like bread, cereal, rice, and pasta, can be goodfor you, especially if they're made fromwhole grains.

CHEF: You could even say that making smartchoices for snacks and meals so we stayhealthy is another way we can be readyfor God.

SCRAPS: (With the children) Shake it up!

CHEF: Speaking of shaking it up, Scraps, doyou know the "shake" I learned today?

SCRAPS: You mean this one? (Does his versionof the "shake it up" motion)

CHEF: (Chuckling) No. I'm talking about the"shake" that makes a change in your life.I always thought that if you were ready, all of your work was done and you werejust waiting. But today's Bible Bite taughtme that I have to "wait for the LORD;bestrong, and let your heart take courage;wait for the LORD."Now I know youalways have work to do to be ready forGod. (With the children) Shake it up!

SCRAPS: Wow, Chef Basil. When I came toShake It Up Cafe, I thought I was justgoing to be helping with some cooking. But it seems like we're all going to belearning a new recipe that will changeour lives!

CHEF: You stick around, Scraps. I thinkthere's going to be a lot of shaking goingon!

CHEF: All right! I think we're ready to getcookin'! (Looking around) Have you seenScraps? He's supposed to give us acooking lesson today. Can you help mecall him? All together now: SCRAPS!

SCRAPS: (Pops up) Yes? Oh! Hello, Chef Basil, and hello, all of you chefs-in-training. Ilost track of the time. I've been readingabout some special dishes to share withyou. I thought I'd try my hand at someEuropean cooking.

CHEF: That sounds great, Scraps. I hope youdidn't go to too much trouble. I'm not onefor fancy food that's hard to pronounce.

SCRAPS: No trouble at all. I'll teach you howto pronounce everything. This is a greatopportunity for me. Being from the forest,I don't get the chance to prepare foodfor people, so cooking for you is a realtreat. Most of my friends would be just ashappy eating out of the garbage can.

CHEF: Ew! OK, what's on the menu?

SCRAPS: We'll start with two of my favoritesoups. Here is the first one. It is a tomatosoup from Spain. It has lots of goodingredients like celery, onions, cucumber, and bell pepper. The Spanish call it"gazpacho. "

CHEF: God bless you.

SCRAPS: What?

CHEF: You sneezed, so I said "God bless you."

SCRAPS: I didn't sneeze. That is the nameof the soup: Gaspacho. Can you saythat, boys and girls? Say it with me:Gah! (Waits for response) Spah! (Waitsfor response) Cho! (Waits for response)Gazpacho! (Waits for response)

CHEF: That sounds terrific! I love tomatosoup. (Takesa sip and reacts, surprised)Wow, Scraps. I think you may havemessed this up. This soup is ice cold!

SCRAPS: That's right, Chef Basil. Gazpacho isa cold tomato soup.

CHEF: (Putting down the bowl) That's going totake some getting used to. What else doyou have ready?

SCRAPS: Next is a French potato soup calledvichyssoise.

CHEF: God bless you.

SCRAPS: No! That's the name of the soup. Sayit with me, chefs. Vee! (Waits for response)She! (Waits for response) SwazI (Waits forresponse) Vichyssoise! (Waits for response)

CHEF: OK, let's give it a try. (Tastes soup andmakes a face) Ugh, Scraps! This soup iscold, too!

SCRAPS: Vichyssoise is cold potato soup. It'sdelicious!

CHEF: Why are you giving me all these coldsoups?

SCRAPS: I'm a raccoon. I learned to cookin the forest. It's not like I can plug ina microwave into a pine tree. You usewhat's available.

CHEF: You weren't?

SCRAPS: No. Before I moved into the cafe, Ilived in the forest. I know what it's likenot to have enough to eat. So wheneverI make a recipe, even if it's my favoritefood, I like to give some away so someoneelse can enjoy it as much as I do.

CHEF: (Impressed) That's very kind of you,Scraps. (Pauses) OK. Let me try thatgazpacho again. Do you have any more?

They've got to be around heresomewhere. I know I had them when Iwas cleaning under the counters thismorning-

CHEF: Had what?

SCRAPS: (Mentally retracing his steps) I foundthem on the sidewalk outside the shelter, brought them back to the kitchen-

CHEF: Brought what?

SCRAPS: -gave them a bath and put them ona plate-

CHEF: Scraps! What are you talking about?

SCRAPS: The snails. Escargot is a Frenchdish made from snails. They musthave crawled off the plate while I waschopping shallots for the vichyssoise.

CHEF: Snails? You brought snails into mycafe? (Hops onto a chair and looks aroundthe floor, a little frightened)

SCRAPS: Don't worry. They won't eat much.

(Chef Gourmando sees Chip talking andquickly joins him on camera.)

GOURMANDO: Chip! Why don't you let me talkto everyone, and you go practice yourvegetable carving skills. You can bring itback and show your friends.

CHIP: OK!

(Chip goes off camera. Chopping noises canbe heard. Occasionally, a piece of food flies bythe camera from Chip's direction.)

GOURMANDO:You know, food is a big part ofsharing. We share meals with friends, family, and those in need. I just love tocreate those meals. All of those flavorsbrought together at one time, the smellsof the dishes, the colors-oh, I can tasteit, I can see it. (Picks up a radish and takesa bite, jarring him back to the present) Ifyou are a great chef like me, you like toadd an artistic flair to share your loveof cooking! I've been teaching Chiphow to take an ordinary vegetable likethis radish (Holds up a plain radish) andcreate art. It is delicate work, and verydifficult to learn without the help of anexperienced teacher.

(Chip enters holding a very elaborate radishflower he's just made.)

Why, Chip, what a beautiful piece of artyou've created! It will be perfect for ourvegetable platter. It is so nice of youto share your talent with others. (ChefGourmando walks away with the radish.)

CHIP: (Looking at the camera wistfully) Boy,I spent a lot of time working on thatradish. It wasn't easy. I kind of gotattached to my work. I really wanted tokeep it. But I guess it's the right thing togive it away so other people can enjoyit. (Slowly brightening) Actually, it kind ofmakes me happy knowing that someoneelse might like the radish as much as I do.

Hey, that's a secret ingredient at Shake ItUp Cafe, isn't it? Give happily! It's hard to

give away something you really want tokeep, but the Bible says there's a reasonwhy giving happily is part of God's recipe.

I think I'm going to make some moreradish roses to give away. See you later!(Chip pushes a button and the screen goesblack.)

CHEF: Well, it looks like Chip is learning a lotof interesting skills-and not just cookingskills. Giving something away can bedifficult, but one of the parts of showingyour love for God is sharing with others.

CHEF: I think I need to give Scraps somehelp finding the rest of these snails.

Imade a list of everything in the fridge,so how about I name a food and you tellme if it is a fruit or a vegetable so I knowwhere to put it?

CHEF: That sounds like fun!

SCRAPS: Banana.

CHEF: That's a fruit.

SCRAPS: OK. Cucumber.

CHEF: That's a fruit.

You put it in salads or soups. A cucumberis a vegetable.

CHEF: No, Scraps. I believe it's a fruit.

SCRAPS: Hmph. Well, what about kiwi?

CHEF: Fruit.

SCRAPS: Corn?

CHEF: Technically, that's a grain, but I'll call ita vegetable.

SCRAPS: OK. How about kumquats?

CHEF: Fruit.

SCRAPS: Tomato?

CHEF: Fruit.

SCRAPS: What? No! Tomatoes are not fruits.Where do you get this stuff? Tomatoesaren't sweet. You don't put tomatoesover ice cream or make tomato jam.Tomatoes are vegetables!

CHEF: I'm telling you, Scraps. Tomatoes arefruits. Believe it! I do!

SCRAPS: I don't understand how you canbelieve something that is so obviouslywrong. Look at a cucumber. It's obviouslya vegetable. Look at a tomato. It'sobviously a vegetable, too. That's whyyou see it in vegetable soup.

CHEF: Scraps, do you know the reason atomato is a fruit and not a vegetable?

SCRAPS: Because you're the boss and yousay so?

CHEF: No. Because the difference betweenfruits and vegetables isn't alwaysobvious. You can't always tell just bylooking or even tasting. See, anythingthat has seeds on the inside is a fruit.

Page 19: Finalcelebration script WorshiPservice outlinesstorage.cloversites.com/newcovenantfellowship/documents/Assembly Leader.pdfOption 1:Tocreate the cafe counter, make the top of the table

So, cucumbers, tomatoes, and evensquash are technically fruits.

SCRAPS: Wow! All this time, I thought that afruit had to be a certain way.

CHEF: You're not the only one. I think weall have times when we find out thatsomething isn't what we expected it to be.

SCRAPS: When I started organizing therefrigerator, I thought I was going tobe doing an ordinary task. But nowthe whole way I think about fruits andvegetables has changed.

CHEF: That's right, Scraps. The importantthing is, when you learn the truth, youshould believe it with all your heart.

CHIP: Yep, I'm sure.

GOURMANDO: If you say so. Chip, please bringme my super duper mixing bowl. I wantto create a fruit salad surprise.

CHIP: OK. I'll be right back. (Chip leaves.)

GOURMANDO: (Pulling the box labeled"Vegetables" in front of him) Now then, tocreate a truly great fruit salad, one mustlayer flavors. CHEF: Greetings, chefs! Scraps and I are justdoing a little tidying. We've really (do the"shake it up" motion) shaken things uparound here, haven't we?

(Invite the music leader to lead everyone in"I'm Ready" and "Give It Away.")

CHEF: I can't believe you chefs are almostdone with your training. Soon you'll haveall the ingredients you need to carry outGod's recipe for living.

SCRAPS: In honor of the great time we've hadtogether, I want to share with you the artof making Forest Friend Gumbo.

CHEF: Forest Friend Gumbo? I don't thinkI've heard of that dish before. Is it good?

SCRAPS: It's the best! In the forest we make itall the time to celebrate the holidays thatare important to us forest creatures.

CHEF: I didn't know forest creatures hadcelebrations. I didn't even know you hadholidays!

SCRAPS: Sure, there's Groundhog Day,International Migratory Bird Day, BeKind to Spiders Week, the annual teddybear picnic, and of course, the day wecelebrate the baby henway.

CHEF: What's a baby henway?

SCRAPS: About two pounds. Ha!

CHEF: I like the idea of coming together tocelebrate, but I'm not so sure about thesquiggly part.

SCRAPS: Talk about fast food! Sometimesthey jump right out of the pot! But welearned a long time ago that the bestpart of any celebration is when you cometogether with your family and friends.

CHEF: Those special holidays are all great, but today at Shake It Up Cafe we'regoing to learn about a celebration weshould have every day.

SCRAPS: OK, but I don't think I could eatForest Friend Gumbo every day. It can sita little heavy in your tummy.

CHEF: Celebrating doesn't always haveto involve big meals and lots of food,Scraps. In fact, the recipe we have beenlearning at Shake It Up Cafe doesn'thave any food in it at all! This recipe hasthe secret ingredients for living our lifefor God. Let's review the ingredients: Beready for God (Shake it up!); give happilyto God (Shake it up!); believe fully in Jesus(Shake it up!); remember Jesus often(Shake it up!); and for today's ingredient-

(A beep sounds, alerting Chef Basil that thevideo chat is about to start.)

CHEF: Maybe Chip will tell us, because rightnow it's time for us to check in with himon his last day with Chef Gourmando.

(Chip adjusts the fuzzy and crooked screen. Inthe background, Chef Gourmando is mixingicing in a big bowl. Just visible is a portion of avery tall cake sitting on a creaking table.)

CHEF: Forget the comedy and stick tocooking, Scraps. Tell us about this ForestFriend Gumbo.

SCRAPS: Traditionally, everyone in the forestis invited to a big feast. Since most of usare scroungers, we just bring whateverwe can scrounge up and put it in the pot.Sometimes it's chewy, sometimes it'scrunchy; and it might be a little squiggly, but it's always fresh.

CHIP: Hello, Chef Basil! And hi, all of youchefs-in-training! It's your Sous ChefChip. Today I'm working with ChefGourmando on a very tall cake (Looks 23

Page 26: Finalcelebration script WorshiPservice outlinesstorage.cloversites.com/newcovenantfellowship/documents/Assembly Leader.pdfOption 1:Tocreate the cafe counter, make the top of the table

up toward the top of the cake) for a veryspecial occasion.

(Chef Gourmando steps up to the camera.)

GOURMANDO: You see, today we are having ahuge birthday celebration for someonevery special-me! I have invited fivehundred of my nearest and dearestfriends, so only the biggest cake woulddo. Chip has been doing a wonderful jobhelping me get the cake ready. In fact,Chip, why don't you finish frosting thetop layer?

CHIP: (Looking up at the cake again) The verytop layer?

GOURMANDO: You can do it, Chip!

(Chip walks back to the bowl of icing, lookingat the cake dubiously, then steps out of theframe. As Chef Gourmando talks, Chip re-enters with a step ladder, grabs the bowl oficing, and climbs up so that only his legs arevisible. The table creaks ominously.)

GOURMANDO: All around the world, we usefood to celebrate special days with goodfriends. We have special food we preparespecifically for birthdays, weddings,Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and lotsof other holidays. Often getting ready forthese feasts can take several days. ButI think that preparing food to share withothers, especially for a celebration, isone of the great joys of being a chef.

(Chip comes down the ladder.)

GOURMANDO: Are we ready for the candles?

CHIP: Chef Gourmando, I don't know howmuch more we can add to this cake.

GOURMANDO: Do not fear! I'll put the candleson. (To the camera) It is my favorite part.

(Chef Gourmando picks up a bunch of candlesand climbs the ladder. As he applies thecandles, the table creaks even more.)24

CHIP: (To the camera) Today at Shake ItUp Cafe, you're going to learn abouta celebration that started over twothousand years ago. Some events wecelebrate only once a year, but you'regoing to hear about something worthcelebrating every day. In fact, your finalsecret ingredient is to celebrate forever!

GOURMANDO: Chip! I need just one morecandle. Would you hand it to me?

CHIP: Are you sure about this, ChefGourmando? This table doesn't soundvery sturdy.

GOURMANDO: I'm sure.

(Chip reaches up to hand Chef Gourmando acandle. As Chef Gourmando adds it to the top,the cake collapses. Frosting flies everywhere.)

GOURMANDO: Oooops!

CHIP: (Covered with icing and looking at thecake on the floor) It looks like we have anupside-down cake! Gotta go!

(Screen goes black.)

(Invite the music leader to lead everyone in"Give Thanks. ")

I'm so glad you all had a good time!Scraps, did you enjoy yourself?

SCRAPS: I sure did! Now, I'm all shook up!

CHEF: What do you mean?

SCRAPS: Well, I used to think life was nothingmore than getting up each day, lookingfor some food, and hanging out withmy friends. After my time at Shake It UpCafe, I see the world in a different way. Ihave learned all about God's recipe, andI'm ready to shake up my life. I'm goingto be ready for God, give happily to God,believe in Jesus, remember Jesus often, and celebrate God forever. Life is great!

CHEF: Now you can carry out everything youhave learned and teach it to your forestfriends. You could even start your veryown Shake It Up Cafe!

SCRAPS: You think so?

CHEF: I'm sure of it. (To the children) Today'singredient tells us to celebrate Godevery day. Our Bible Bite says, "I willcause your name to be celebrated in allgenerations; therefore the peoples willpraise you forever and ever." A part ofour celebration should be to tell peopleabout all about God and what Jesus hasdone for us.

Here's another important lesson: Whenwe shake up our lives to follow God'srecipe, we become a new creation. It'simportant to take care of that creation.

In each lesson Scraps has given us ahealthy eating tip that helps us stayhealthy and take care of ourselves forGod. Right, Scraps?

SCRAPS: That's right. We should remember toeat healthy foods, like those in the milkgroup. You only need two to three cupsof dairy products a day, so make sure youdon't overdo it, even if it is a celebration. That's the way to live a long, happy life.

CHEF: I couldn't have said it better. I justhave one more thing to add. (Clearsthroat) It is time for me to announcethat all of you chefs-in-training havecompleted your course at Shake Up Cafeand are ready to carry out God's recipeinto the world. Congratulations! Let'scelebrate by singing!

(Invite the music leader to the front to leadthe children in "Everybody Celebrate. "

Before we go out into the world, let'sbow our heads and thank God for thiswonderful time together. (Bows head)

Thank you, Lord, for bringing all of ustogether. As we leave Shake It Up Cafe, help us remember to celebrate your loveevery day, to eat healthy foods, and tolead our lives according to your recipe. We thank you for this opportunity to learnand to share. Amen.

CHEF: Welcome to Shake It Up Cafe! I'mChef Basil. Thank you for coming to ourfinal celebration. Let's get started!

(The children enter the cafe singing "TodayIs the Day." Alternatively, have the children inposition and ready to sing before the programbegins.)

CHEF: We've been learning God's recipe forliving, and now we're ready to carry it outinto the world. Thank you for letting yourchefs take part in the activities. We'vehad a great time.

We want to show you everything wedid here at Shake It Up Cafe. While welearned about cooking, we discoveredthat people in Bible times did a lot ofcelebrating. We heard about festivals thatwere celebrated back then and somethat are still being celebrated today.

My assistant at the cafe has been outof town, studying with the great ChefGourmando. We'll hear from the two ofthem in just a bit. Of course, with Chipgone, I needed a new sous chef. I knowhe's around here somewhere. (To thechildren) Have you seen Scraps? I'll gofind him while you share our theme songwith everyone.

(Children sing "Shake It Up. " Scraps pops upduring the song and dances along.)

SCRAPS: Hello, everyone! Sorry I'm late, ChefBasil. I was busy thinking about what I'mgoing to do next. I learned so much hereat Shake It Up Cafe. I want to remembereverything so I can start my own Shake ItUp Cafe in the forest.

CHEF: Well, our newly-trained chefs aregoing to review everything we learnedhere, so why don't you take some notes?

SCRAPS: Perfect!

CHEF: (To the audience) In each session,we learned a Bible story, a Bible Bitememory verse, and a secret ingredientfrom the recipe for carrying out God'sWord.

(Speakers 1-4 come to the microphone as thechef is talking.)

CHILD #1: Our first Bible story comes fromthe Book of Exodus and takes placewhen the Israelites were slaves in Egypt.

CHILD #2: We learned about their Passovermeal and how God gave theminstructions for what to eat and how toprepare it. The people had to eat withtheir cloaks on and their walking sticks intheir hands so they were ready when Godtold them to go.

CHILD #3: Our first secret ingredient is "Beready for God." (Shake it up!) We mustprepare our lives so we are ready whenGod calls us.

CHILD #4: The Bible Bite for this lessonis Psalm 27:14: "Wait for the LORD;bestrong, and let your heart take courage;wait for the LORD!"

(Children sing "I'm Ready, " and speakers1-4 return to their original positions. As thesong ends, speakers 5 and 6 come to themicrophone.)

CHEF: We learned that being ready forGod doesn't mean just waiting around.Being ready means coming to church, learning all you can about God andJesus, praying, and treating others withkindness.

CHILD #5: In our second lesson, we learnedabout the many festivals that Godcommanded the Israelites to celebrate.

27Assembly Leader

Page 30: Finalcelebration script WorshiPservice outlinesstorage.cloversites.com/newcovenantfellowship/documents/Assembly Leader.pdfOption 1:Tocreate the cafe counter, make the top of the table

CHILD #6: Many of the festivals involvedgiving God the first part of the food thepeople had grown. By giving to Godfirst, the Israelites were recognizing thatall they had was because of God. Theyshowed they were thankful for theirblessings.

(Children sing "Give Thanks" as speakers 5and 6 return to their original positions. As thesong ends, speakers 7and 8 come to themicrophone.)

CHILD #7: The Bible Bite for this lesson isHebrews 13:16: "Don't forget to do goodand to share what you have, becauseGod is pleased with these kinds ofsacrifices."

CHILD #8: The second secret ingredient is"Give happily to God." (Shake it up!)

(A beep sounds, alerting Chef Basil that thevideo chat is about to start.)

CHEF: That sound means it's time to check inwith my so us chef, Chip, and the famousChef Gourmando.

(Show Session Two from the Adventure VideoDVD. See the text below. Speakers 7 and 8return to their original positions.)

******************BEGIN VIDEO SEGMENT*****************

(The screen is fuzzy and slightly crooked asChip adjusts the camera. Chef Gourmando isin the background, chopping vegetables.)

CHIP: Hi, Chef Basil! Hello, all you chefs-in-training! It's Chip. I'm here with thefamous Chef Gourmando, and we'rechopping vegetables to take to thedowntown feed-the-hungry program. Abig job like this takes a lot of preparation.

vegetable carving skills. You can bring itback and show your friends.

CHIP: OK!

(Chip goes off camera. Chopping noises canbe heard. Occasionally, a piece of food flies bythe camera from Chip's direction.)

GOURMANDO: You know, food is a big part ofsharing.

(Chip enters, holding a very elaborate radishflower he's just made.)

(Chef Gourmando sees Chip talking andquickly joins him on camera.)

Hey, that's a secret ingredient at Shake ItUp Cafe, isn't it? Give happily! It's hard togive away something you really want tokeep, but the Bible says there's a reason

GOURMANDO: Chip! Why don't you let me talk why giving happily is part of God' .to everyone, and you go practice your I think I'm going to k s recipe.
