IntroductionQh talbros .pvt.ltd. is a part of Talbros automotive

components ltd . established in 1956.Today after 50 successful years, talbros stands proud and tall as a mother brand of

gaskets, steering and suspension,stampings,rubber products and forgings. Qh talbros .pvt.ltd. is the best name in steering

and suspension. Qh talbros is named after the name of its inventors and parteners Mr.quinton hazel and the two Talwar

brothers.with an annual installed capacity in excess of 15 million assemblies coupled with the internationally acclaimed

technology edge of its European partener , the company is competent to meet the requirements of all the segments of automotive industry viz. heavy commercial vehicles , light

commercial vehicles , passanger vehicles , farm tractors, off highway vehicles etc.

Departments Design & development - a number of machanical design softwares are

used by a very expert designers. The softwares the softwares used are-

1. Auto cad 20122. Catia-v53. Unix-7.54. Msc-nastram

Manufacturing department-

a number of lathe machins, special purpose machines , computer numerical control machines are used for the manufacturing of ball pin joints,nexteer, tie rods and other suspension and steering parts.

Assembly department- assembly of components isb done by machines also

Manual assembly is done of parts like tie rods.

Testing department- after manufacturing and assembly ,testing of the part is done by testing department. A part has to pass a number of test before it get exported. A number of testing machines are there.

Quality assurance- quality of the part ,which is ready is assured by quality assurance department. A number of machines and instruments are there in this department which measures the very minute irregularties in dimensions.vernier caliper, screw guage, profile projector etc are some instuments.

Project assignedDepartment in which I worked is testing department. There I saw a number of

testing machines and number of parts getting tested on those machines. Machines used are-

Testing of control arm- a control arm has to pass 3 tests before it is ready.these

These tests are-

Buckling test Static strength endurance test Computerizedl endurance test

In buckling test of control arm, two sides of the arm are fixed and force is applied from third side . the point where control arm gets buckled gets noted and a simultaneous graph gets plotted on the computer screen.Similarly the other two tests are performed on it.

Testing of nexteer- test performed on nexteer are –

Radial play test Ball pin joint smoothness test

Radial play test is done on rigidity testing machine. Nexteer is clamped on the machine . computer is given command and a force is exerted on the part first from top then from bottom.a graph gets plotted on the screen and then it is selected if reading falls in acceptance region.

For ball pin joint smoothness test, head (housing) of the nexteer is clamped on the bench vice and we rotate the pin at different angles , a device is attached on the pin which detects the friction.
