For those who are not involved in the sport, it isn’t really a sport at all and it has always been plagued by accusations of steroid abuse. You won’t see it in the Olympic Games or on the sports channels on TV. The great stars are completely unheard of outside their own world and most of us find these people revolting to look at. It seems pointless and dangerous because of the very special diet that is required. The top stars are strong, but not fit, and when competitions take place, the athletes will be physically weak, not having eaten any fat or sugar for weeks. There seems to be nothing objective about the judging, which is more like a beauty contest than a sporting event. But for those who succeed in this strange world, the rewards can be substantial. Prize money of over 100,000 British pounds is just the start. But the big money comes with advertising contracts for food supplement companies.
