We all pay taxes. Even a beggar on the street pays sales

tax when he buys anything from the market. Thismoney belongs to us. But where does this money go?

Why are there no medicines in the hospitals? Why

are people dying of starvation? Why are the roads

in such pathetic conditions? Why are the taps dry?Now we have a right to question governments. The

Parliament of India has passed Right to Information

Laws, which empower citizens to question the

government, inspect their files, take copies ofgovernment documents and also to inspect government

    works.

File an RTI asking the following questions:

The following construction is going on.

    ______________________________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________________________

Kindly provide the following information with respect to the same:

Iwould like to come and inspect all the files and documents related to the bidding, tendering, approval and construction and payment of this work. Kindly intimate thedate and time when I can come.

Iwould also like to come and inspect this work under section 2(i) of RTIAct. I will dothat when I come for inspecting the documents.

Iwould like to take sample of material used in the construction of this work. Thesame should be taken from the spot in my presence when I come for inspection andshould be certified and provided to me under section 2(i) of RTI Act.

You would be intimated date and time for inspection. You dont need to be a civilengineer to do the inspection. For instance, for roads, just measure the length, breadth and thickness of the road. Even if you do this much, it would be a greatcontribution to the country as the incidence of bogus roads would come downsubstantially. If possible, get the sample of the road tested in a laboratory for bitumencontent. If you find any discrepancy, register an FIR.If you need any help, pleasecontact us. We will try and provide you with engineering help.
