1.1 INTRODUCTION

A cafeteria is a type of food service location in which there is little or no

waiting staff table service, whether a restaurant or within an institution such as a

large office building or school

Instead of table service, there are food-serving counters/stalls, either in a

line or allowing arbitrary walking paths. Customers take the food they require as

they walk along, placing it on a tray. In addition, there are often stations where

customers order food and wait while it is prepared, particularly for items such as

hamburgers or tacos which must be served hot and can be quickly prepared.

Alternatively, the patron is given a number and the item is brought to their table.

Sometimes, for some food items and drinks, customers collect an empty

container, pay at the check-out, and fill the container after the check-out. Free

second servings are often allowed under this system. For legal purposes (and the

consumption patterns of customers

A cafeteria is a great to spend time with friends, colleagues and many

more close people. When this cafeteria is near a work place, it is very easy for

people to make the place attractive while taking a good benefit of it. A normal

cafeteria gets a least free internet connection, television, a big place for people to

be at ease and more. Customers are either charged a flat rate for admission in a

buffet, or pay at the check-out for each item. Some self-service cafeteria charge

by the weight of items.

1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT

In Polisas have three main cafeterias , Al-Ghazali , AlBiruni and Ibnu Sina . Its

because the three of cafeterias was place near by hostel and most become a focal

point for students.

The problem is often dealt with by each students is on service , quality and price

of food available in cafeterias. The problems that need to be analysis is about Poor

service to the students , The price is not suitable and consistent , The poor quality of

the food and also Many cafe not follow the specification by ministry of health at

polisas cafeterias.

1.3 OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE OF SURVEY

For this survey we want to compare the price between cafe in Polisas

and to know the most student refer to buy a food in polisas cafeterias or outside.

1.4 SCOPE SURVEY

The main scope of survey to determine the quality of cafe in Polisas within the

student of DTM5S3. In DTM5S3 have 30 students, there are 7 of male and 23 of

female students. The range of age for the students as above 23 years old (23- 27 years

old).

CHAPTER 2 ( METHODOLOGY)

2.1 Methodology

Since this mini survey is a qualitative research, the most appropriate data

gathering instruments were designed for this purpose. Hence, survey

questionnaires were used.

A sample survey questionnaire that had been develop is attached here with

appendix. Similar questions were used when interviews were conducted on 30

students of Dtm 5S3.

For this survey, we choose a method of questionnaire that involve 10

items( gender, age, state, about services, quality and price ).The types of question

in scale of agree,strong agree, not sure, disagree,strong disagree and scale of yes

or no.

2.2 SAMPLING AND TARGET POPULATION

Main focus of this survey was to compare the price between cafe in

Polisas and to know the most food that students in Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad

Shah, Kuantan Pahang prefer to eat .

As the polytechnic population is big, therefore the target sampling

group had been specified. The respondents randomly selected were students is

2.3 ADMINISTRATION OF QUESTIONNAIRES AND DATA COLLECTION

A total of 30 survey questionnaires were distributed between 23/7/2013 to

24/7/2013 to students of Food Technology Department ( DTM 5S3 ). Below is a

explanatory raw data of data collection that shows the place, date and time of

interviews, respondents and method of data collection.

From this bar graph shows the age of students in class DTM 5S3. The ge

range for students of DTM 5S3 between 23 years old to 26 years old. For the

yellow color bar indicates the age of 23 , 24 , 24 , 25 and 25 years old , while for

the red colr bar is a total number of students in each age . For 23 years old have

16 persons, age 24 years old have 13 persons and age of 36 years old have 1

person .

and Johor have 3 percent of students, at Perlis , Kedah , Penang , and Kelantan

have 7 percent of students , at Selangor ,Wilayh Persekutuan and Hostel have 10

percent of students , at Negeri Sembilan have 13 percent while at perak have 23

percent of students . Majority of students in DTM 5S3 is at Perak and Negeri

Sembilan .

The line graph shows the total person vs cafeterias , On the x-axis, we can

see the three of cafeterias in polisas. For the y-axis is the number of student. We

regard that students almost buy a food at cafeterias Ibnu Sina . From that we can

know the Ibnu Sina cafeterias have a good quality of food of environment

compare to cafeterias of Al-Ghazali and Al-Biruni.

This bar chart show the how many student must spent time to buy and pay

the food in polisas cafeteria. In this graph we can conclute higher score for agree

with the statment given 12 students, strong agree 9 students, not sure 8 person,

only 1 students that disagree with the statment. Majority of the student agree with

statment their must spent of lot time pay and buy the food because the cafeteria in

polisas not provided enough workers to do work for serve and also the workers to

be a cashier, only the owner that be a cashier. This problem will arise if owner is

not around in cafeteria ot the owner out or doing other work.

4.1 CONCLUSION

As a conclusion from our research, we found our objective is achieved.

That are three objective firstly price, second quality and the lastly service. This

objective was about cafeteria that have in Polisas, that are Al-Ghazali, Al-Biruni

and Ibnu Sina.

90% from respondent was agree that price above RM3.00 per each of

meal. The best of quality from the three of cafeteria is Ibnu Sina. The most

cafeteria in Polisas was not fulfill prepare a good characteristic of food and also

good for health and balance diet for student. For the last objective is service,

many student agree about their must spent a lots of time when to pay and buy the

food. Ibnu Sina get a higher score between three cafeteria in Polisas was give a

many variety of food for student.

The final conclusion, from our survey the cafeteria in Polisas should be

improvement in term of food preparation, price and service for attract many

student prefer to eat at cafeteria compare outside.
