HARYANAMineral Resources
The State is the principal holder of country'sresources of slate (85%), tin ore (64%), quartz-silicasand (42%) and quartzite (53%). The principal mineralsthat are found to occur in Haryana are china clay inFaridabad, Gurgaon & Rewari districts; limestone inAmbala, Bhiwani, Mahendragarh & Panchkuladistricts; quartz/silica sand in Bhiwani, Faridabad,Gurgaon & Mahendragarh districts; quartzite inFaridabad & Gurgaon distr icts; and slate inMahendragarh & Gurgaon districts. Other minerals, such as, barytes, calcite, felspar & marble occur inMahendragarh district; copper in Bhiwani &Mahendragarh districts; dolomite in Ambala &Mahendragarh districts; granite in Bhiwani district;and tin & tungsten mineralisations in Tosham area ofBhiwani district have also been reported (Table-1).
Exploration and Development
Mineral exploration activity was reported byGSI for copper & basemetal in Mahendragarh &Bhiwani districts during 2016-17 in the State ofHaryana (Table-2).
Production
Sulphur (by-product) was the main mineral itemreporting production in the state.
The value of minor minerals’ production was esti-mated at ` 35 crore for the year 2016-17 (Table-3).
Mineral-based IndustryThe present status of each Mineral-based
Industry is not readily available. However, theimportant large and medium-scale Mineral-basedIndustries in the organised sector in the state arefurnished in Table - 4.

G4 stage reconnaissance surveyfor multi-metal deposit, has beencarried out in this area. Surfacesampling carried out across thestrike from the exposures of quartzfeldspar porphyry and pinkporphyritic granite. Bedrocksamples were collected and analysedfor Cu, Sn, W, Au, Ni, Co, Pb andZn. Detailed geophysicalinvestigation carried out over73 line km for locating multi metaldeposits in and around area.On the basis of the geophysicalcorroboration, probe for possiblemineralisation at a vertical depthof 350 m with 10% variation hasbeen recommended.
G2 stage exploration for multi-metaldeposit in north of Tosham hill hasbeen carried out. The mineralisedzone stretches over 880 m strikelength with individual band thicknessvarying from 2 m to 19 m has beenexplored in the area. The resourceshave been estimated to be 8.16 mtTin at 0.21% Sn, 4.08 mt tungstenat 0.29% W and 18.10 mt copper at0.38% Cu. Cobalt, which was notreported earlier in this mineral belt, has a resource of 0.23 mt with anaverage grade of 0.16%.
G2 stage general exploration forcopper mineralisation in north ofGolwa was taken up by detailedmapping. Drilling was carried out inseven first level boreholes, fivesecond level boreholes & one thirdlevel boreholes over a cumulativestrike length of 1000 m to intersectmineralisation zone at verticaldepth of 60 m, 120 m & 180 m,respectively below the surface. observed that a single lode isintersected in all boreholes. Thethickness of the zone varies from3.2 m to 14.25 m. Total in situresource estimated in the area is 1.75million tonnes with 0.42% Cu byLVS method and 1.72 million tonneswith 0.42% Cu by CS method with0.20% Cu off and 1 .70 milliontonnes with 0.42% Cu by CS methodat 0.3% cut-off.
During G2 stage preliminaryexploration for coppermineralisation by detailed mappingwas carried out along with 961.95m drilling in five boreholes. A totalof 180 nos. core samples fromboreholes were analysed for Cu, Pb,Zn, Sn and W. Analytical resultsshow - 20 to 1476 ppm Cu, 41 to1413 ppm Zn, 20 to 1612 ppmPb, 20 to 36 ppm Sn and 20 to 225ppm W. Analytical results of foursamples each of channel and pitsamples showed <10 ppm Cu, <10ppm Pb and 11-30 ppm Zn. Nomineralised zones could beestablished on the surface.
During G2 stage generalexploration for coppermineralisation in south ofGangutana (Block-1 of Zone-A),has been carried out by detailedmapping along with drilling. On thebasis of borehole data and chemicalresults, the four mineralised zones(with 0.2% cut-off of copper) havebeen identified viz. Zone-I rangingin thickness from 5.00 m to26.5 m, Zone-II from 3.50 m to24.50 m, Zone-III from 10.00 mto 30.00 m and Zone IV 14.00 m.
