Makeup Your Mind is a theatrical makeup program created by Stephen Christopher Rotundo for La Strada Ensemble out of Asbury Park, NJ. La Strada Ensemble is a small theater company located at the jersey shore that produces mainly new works and various acting classes. Makeup Your Mind is a theatrical makeup class that is separated into two different sessions, Makeup Your Mind: Actor and Makeup Your Mind: You. The two sessions will be at different times that way the students with a passion for makeup can partake in both, as well as the actor who just wants to discover makeup for personal use. The program will be ran by La Strada Ensemble, but the supplies and tools will be donated by our partner, M.A.C Cosmetics.As stated before, Makeup Your Mind will be split up into two sessions, Makeup Your Mind: Actor and Makeup Your Mind: You. Both programs will run after school around 4PM, being that the local high school ends at 2:00PM and because the program's age restriction is 16 and up. Makeup Your Mind will have a fee for participation and this fee will go to La Strada Ensemble's programs fund as well as this very programs future. Students can participate in either just one of the sessions or both depending on their passion for theatrical makeup. Makeup Your Mind: You is more of a basic application class and the easier of the two sessions. In this session of the program, students will discover how to apply the basics to oneself for a show. Students will learn in depth about the application of false lashes, mascara, powder, foundation, blush, shadow, and liner. The main focus of this session is to make oneself visible from the house during a production. Each session will run for 6 weeks, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will 'highlight' a certain techinque and cosmetic each class. At the end of the course there will be a mock headshot session displaying the students favorite look. After this course students will be able to apply cosmetics to themselves for a production as well as any day. Makeup Your Mind: Actor is more for the advanced cosmetic student with a passion for theatrical makeup, but Makeup Your Mind does start at the very beginning, so anyone can enroll. In the Actor session, students will learn how to apply to other actors as well as some designing techniques.Students will discover the magic of makeup with learning how to create cuts, burns, age and animal themes. Students will also learn how to create and preserve cosmetic face charts to use for their future portfolio. Makeup Your Mind: Actor will have guest artists every other week ranging from Broadway Makeup Artists & Monster Makeup Artists to Cosmetology specialists. During the program, students will embark on a cosmetic journey every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening for six weeks resulting in a final photo shoot for their final projects. At the end of the course, students will choose a model and apply three different looks for a photo shoot. Having model photos with their work displayed is great for their portfolio. La Strada Ensemble will partner up with M.A.C Cosmetics and for using and advertising their products; M.A.C will provide our program with a donation of starter kits. Each student will be given a starter kit based on which session they are enrolled in and the rest is drag, as they say. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 6 weeks, students will learn new cosmetic techniques from teachers, cosmetologists, and professionals in the business today. Makeup Your Mind is the program for all types of people...if you are a prospective makeup artist looking to enter the business or even just an actor struggling to apply their face for a show.
