What are we doing at CUPB Community Skill Development Centre to actualize vision of National Skill
Development Mission in to reality
• 1) Sericulture• 2) Vermicomposting• 3) Mushroom Cultivation• 4) Apiculture-bee Keeping And Allied Activities
Skill development courses were started for the unemployed youth and farmers
• Vermicomposting started on 7th May 2015. • students registered - 60 • Vermicompost produced after each cycle – 250 kg • For sustenance, Vermicompost sold to horticulture

APICULTURE• Started on-7 May 2015 • Started with 10 beehives for giving practical knowledge to
students• Students registered-60• Each season 22 kg of honey is extracted, filtered, packed and
sold to the University Faculty and students.

• Eggs of silkworm were procured from Central silk board, Dehradoon.

Mushroom cultivation
• Cultivation of Button Mushrooms:• In September 2015, compost was prepared.
Spawn was purchased from PAU Ludhiana. 5, In the end of November, white mycelia of fungus was formed.
• Coated with the coating material and the button mushroom appeared in the January and continued in the month of March.
Material for research
Certain research topics can arise. Eg. Analyses of chemical composition of mushrooms has been done. DNA bar code of pink and white dhingri mushrooms is being worked out for comparison. Certain other para meters of mushrooms can be studied with con-focal microscope.
