Shopping Pains

“Is this button going to fall off once I get home?”

What’s most important: cost? brand? quality?

“What the heck is starch hydrolysate?”

“I bet the price is half as much on Amazon…”

“Is my sales representative just trying to get his commission?”

The Bottom Line

There is an overwhelming number of factors to consider when buying a product and

consumers simply do not have enough information to make

educated decisions.

Shopping at the Grocery Store

Molly is at the grocery store and sees the blueberry pop-tarts. They are her favorite and she really wants to buy them. However she decides to look at the per unit cost before making her purchase decision so she scans the barcode on the box so her Mobile Shopping Assistant can do the calculation for her.

Page 9: Final presentation

After checking out the per unit cost and seeing the percent of her budget it takes up, she decides that she should probably check out how her monthly budget is looking before deciding to purchase this item since it’s not necessary.

Page 10: Final presentation

After looking at the budget for her groceries, she decides that there really isn’t enough money left to get the pop tarts unless there is a coupon available.

Page 11: Final presentation

After checking the coupons page, there are no coupons for blueberry pop tarts but she checks her favorites to make sure there are there so she has easy access to them for her next shopping trip.

Page 12: Final presentation

The blueberry poptarts on the favorites page as well as all her other favorite poptarts so next week when she goes shopping, she can easily check for coupons.
