• A set of verbal and nonverbal interactions - meeting between you and an employer.
• The interview is used to determine whether you are Professional, Fit and Interested in the position/ job .
INTERVIEWING IS A TWO-WAY STREET :
• Employers are attempting to determine if you are an appropriate fit for the job and their culture.
• You decide if the environment is right for you.

• Dark socks, conservative leather shoes
• Little or no jewelry
• Neat, professional hairstyle
• Limit the aftershave
• Neatly trimmed nails
• Suit (navy, black or dark grey).
• The suit skirt should be long enough so you can sit down comfortably.
• No bright colors.
• Conservative shoes.
• Limited jewelry (no dangling earrings or arms full of bracelets) .
• No jewelry is better than cheap jewelry.
• Professional hairstyle or less colored scarf
• Light make-up and perfume.
• Neatly manicured clean nails.

JUST BEFORE INTERVIEW• Take copies of your CV with you.
• Be early (10-15) minutes early.
• Refresh by re-reading the job description.
• Always be polite and friendly to everybody.
• Call if you will be detained
• Be professional and courteous with everyone you meet in the office, especially the receptionist
• Make a good first impression
• Avoid smoking and strong perfume.
• Remember your steps and behavior outside the interview room because many of times you will be monitor/ surveillance through CCTV cameras.

Body Language: What signals are you sending?
Positive Signals• Leaning forward =
interest• Smiling = friendly• Nodding = attentive and
alert• Eye contact = curious
and focused• Voice / pitch / tone = soft,
clear and balanced
Negative Signals• Crossed arms =
defensive• Fidgeting hands or
tapping feet = nervous or bored
• Lack of eye contact = untrustworthy
• Leaning back= discomfort• Yawning= feeling banal
Interviewee Body Language
• Avoid indecisive phrases like: “I think,” “I guess,” “probably,” or “pretty good”.
• Hold the file in proper manner.
• Think before speaking
• Avoid long verbose answers
• Use words that state positives skills in you like: in my research, creativity, liking to learn new things..
• Don’t Share negatives about a past employers
• Ask them to repeat or clarify questions for you
DURING INTERVIEW
• Don’t blame or sound angry with your last company .
• Don’t get into personal details that may end up backfiring on you .
• Request to repeat the question if you don’t understand.
• Maintain proper eye contact with all the interviewer.
• Position of hands during the interview.
• Sit still in your seat; avoid fidgeting and slouching.
