Techniques DERIVED FROM local ancient
specialities
The Tongguan Kiln of Changsha was one of the most famous, ancient kilns, during the period
between the Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties.
It was well known for creating the first red glaze and colorful underglaze in its porcelain.
The lacquered gauze headgear is the earliest and best preserved of its kind ever found in China.
From the late Warring States Period to the early Western Han Dynasty, this hat was made out of
raw silk and thin linen threads and then dyed with lacquer to give it strength.
