Development of the VET MODULE Strategic partnership
3 partners countries (Slovenia, Great Britain, Netherlands)
3 different educational systems and practises in VET (vocational educational training)
Development of
new VET module Vertical Gardening
on secondary level of education
part of the open curriculm in formal educational programs
Development of Catalogue of knowledge
Familiar terms: Module Plan, Course Outline/Map, Unit Plan, Sylabus, Curriculum
Many formats:
Basic elements/componets:
- title of the VET module- purpose and goals- lerning units with relevant contents- implementation plan- anticipated results- evaluation / assesment of student‘s knowledge- student‘s preliminary knowledge required- target or learning group- duration- teacher professional background
PURPOSE
Why we want teaching the contents in the field of living walls?
The concept of green architecture encourages the establishment of green
spaces in urban areas, including vertical gardens in the form of interior and
exterior living walls.
Green spaces in urban areas have a significant potential to improve the
quality of the environment, human health and well-being of the citizens
The PURPOSE is to ensure a professional approach to the building and
maintenance of living walls through adequate education and practical
training.
CONTENT
What do we want our students to learn in the field of living walls?
On the basic of need analyses 4 main LEARNING UNITS were determined
1. Introduction to vertical greening system
2. Installation of vertical greening system
3. Plants for vertical greening system
4. Maintenance of vertical greening systems
GENERAL GOALS
What student will be able to do by the end of the training?
1. Understand the benefits and constraints of vertical greening in indoor and outdoor environments
2. Be able to identify a variety of plants suitable for vertical greening systems in interior and exterior environments
3. Understand the different types of vertical greening systems, their substrates and properties
4. Be aware of the health and safety issues involved in the installation and maintenance of vertical greening systems
5. Be able to create a simple planting plan for use in a living wall system
6. Be able to use equipment appropriate to the installation and maintenance of vertical greening systems
7. Be able to use appropriate means of communication in the implementation of individual tasks and troubleshooting
8. Develop creative thinking and technical and professional responsibilities in the workplace
9. Be able to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge
10. Developing information literacy and inclusion of a European dimension in the educational process
LEARNING OUTCOMES
What specific learning outcomes we exspect from our students at the end
of the training?
Classification of the learning outcomes regarding
Knowledge
theoretical knowledge and concepts. What the student know and understand?
Skills
practical knowledge, creativeness, imagining, procedures, working methods. What the student
is able to perform?
Competencies
focus is on the development of personal and professional attitude (critical thinking, learning to
learn, responsibility, autonomy, social and civil competencies, digital competencies etc.)
EXAMPLE:
LEARNING UNIT 3: Plants for vertical systems
IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
Inclusion of the VET module in formal educational programmes Gardner and
Horticultural Technician in 2016/17
It consists 40 hours theoretical and practical work.
On the basic of Catalogue of knowledge
Teachers‘ manual
Textbook
were developed and are in line with 4 learning units which cover all 10 main goals
of the VET module Vertical Plant Life
