Containment Systems for the Filtration of Hazardous Materials

Increasing legislation for the protection of operators and the environment from hazardous materials has brought significant challenges to manufacturing companies. These challenges have extended to the filtration of process liquids and gases. To support companies who need to filter hazardous fluids, Amazon Filters can design bespoke contained filtration systems. These can range from simple fully disposable encapsulated filters to flexible film containment systems. We can therefore provide the product to suit all budgetary, technical, health, safety and environmental requirements.

Amazon is able to combine its advanced design and engineering capabilities with the latest in flexible film containment technology. We can design a filtration assembly to meet your specific process needs and install it inside a flexible film enclosure that includes glove ports and ‘bag in/bag out’ materials handling systems. Custom and Bespoke Filter Vessel Design

Amazon Filters bespoke design and manufacturing capabilities enable us to provide systems with improved ergonomics, efficiency and Health & Safety benefits. We will work with you to understand your specific requirements and then design a filtration system to meet those needs. Filter housings can be designed to International pressure vessel design codes (ASME VIII, EN13445 and PD5500) and will be ATEX and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 97/23/EC compliant. We are also accredited for Self Certifying to Module H of the PED. Our expertise includes manufacturing housings using a wide range of stainless steels and exotic alloys.

Flexible Film Enclosures

Once we have designed the optimum filtration system for your process, we will develop a flexible film containment system to enable operation of the filtration process without compromising the safety of the operators or surrounding environment. These

coming into contact with the product• Elimination of cleaning – The plastic bags encasing the system prevent the product being filtered from contacting the system housing. Therefore the housing remains uncontaminated and requires no cleaning. • Higher pressure and temperature compatibility than capsules – Due to safety concerns standard capsule filters have limitations on process conditions they can be operated under. SupaClean filters are encased within a stainless steel housing providing enhanced safety and enabling the system to be operated in more demanding processes when compared to standard capsule filters SUPACHANGE DISPOSABLE ASSEMBLY

In applications where a lower level more simple containment requirement exists, Amazon is able to offer the SupaChange disposable assembly. This unit makes use of a revolutionary disposable bowl concept, where filter replacement is achieved by replacing the plastic housing bowl and cartridge as a combined assembly.

contained inside a secure assembly, providing isolation of the product and filters. The whole system is used inside a stainless steel housing which provides the pressure vessel required for the filtration process.

• Flexibility – the design of the SupaClean system enables the use of wide range of filter types, micron ratings and sizes • Reduced operational costs – Filter change-out is quick and simple. The filter assembly can be simply lifted out of the housing and replaced by a new unit. No cartridge sealing or housing cleaning are required so labour costs and time are minimised • Reduced quality problems – The filter unit is supplied already assembled thus eliminating the risk of operators not installing filters correctly and filter by-pass occurring • Operator and environmental protection – The SupaClean system provides containment for both the used filters and the product being filtered. Therefore filter change-out can be achieved with minimal risk of the operator or the surrounding area

SUPAPORE CAPSULE FILTERS

The use of SupaPore capsule filters can provide containment in processes where there is a low level risk. Pleated filter modules are encapsulated within a plastic shell to provide fully disposable filter units for small and medium scale liquid and gas processing applications.They are supplied with a range of inlet and outlet connectors to ensure easy filter replacement and to minimise operator exposure to process fluids. SupaPore capsules are available in various sizes from 50mm through to 750mm long and in a range of filter media:-
