FILM SPECIFICATIONS• Project name: Conscience Revenge (2017)

It is inspired by an anime series (or a Japanese cartoon TV series) called ‘Death Note’

In addition, we can adapt a story around this anime series considering it doesn’t have much of a storyline at the moment. There’s also a variety of law of the

anime so we can make our own story from it.

QUICK NOTE:We have changed our opening title sequence name “Revenge Note” to “Conscience Revenge” this is because we felt like we were plagiarizing the anime show’s name which is something that we do not wish to do. For this reason, the word “Conscience” have fitted well with the story plot we have at the moment and this is the best way to describe it; I believe it is the best way to describe it because Conscience holds a very interesting meaning which when we put the words ‘Conscience’ and ‘Revenge’ together, it will let the audience acknowledge what type of sequence will our opening title sequence will be.

Equilibrium:

The story is about a young college student called Jenny, living with her roommate who goes by the name Kelly. She has a very smart and pessimistic personality but get defensive whenever some harm being caused to her friends or family; she has a kind heart and could not force herself to solve difficult things that life shows it to her.

Disruption:

One day, Jenny comes home from college and saw that Kelly wasn’t at home, usually Kelly would beat home earlier because her lesson finished earlier than Jenny. As she tried to contact her, the phone was off and it wasn’t calling. Jenny began to suspect as she tried to think maybe her exercising was taking a little more longer.

Recognition of Disruption:

She walked upstairs and put her stuff down as she opened her laptop to continue her studying from where she left it back in the college. As she held the notebook on her hand, in a deep thought. Then out of nowhere, a video in full size popped up at she jumped from her chair, to see that Kelly was tied and beaten up. The unknown person had a bat on their hand as they said “Bring the notebook or I will kill your friend.” with that, the video disappeared.

Attempt to Repair Disruption:

As Jenny couldn’t get the shock and terrified feeling off her, she fell back on the floor, thinking it wasn’t real.

Reinstatement of Disruption:

Then she woke up in her bed, it was 4 o’clock in the morning, she got up and checked if the notebook was with her, which was right on the desk and then checked on Kelly if she was okay, which she was sleeping as well.

INSPIRED BY ‘DEATH NOTE’As mentioned in the previous slide, ‘Death Note’ is an anime, more precise, a Japanese comic Manga series and a published film.

The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook from a Shinigami named Ryuk that grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name and face he knows. The series centres around Light's attempts to create and rule a world "cleansed of evil" as "God" using the notebook, and the efforts of a detective known as L to stop him.

FILM PRODUCTION & ENTERTAINMENT COMPANIES

There are many film companies and entertainments around the world (obviously). However, we realized that most of the popular films nowadays are made by those specifically companies that displays on here, there are many more.

We are also really interested in making our own small film production or entertainment company, as one of member of our group has already made a YouTube Brand Channel for our group called ‘YRS Entertainment’ which is where we will upload our opening sequence there (might as well subscribe!)

‘YRS Entertainment’ stands for Yesmihan, Rochelle and Shanie Entertainment to represent our group. We also made a little logo for it as well, however, it may change over the time, we wish to use our own company logo at the beginning of the film to make it more exciting and interesting to watch (but that’s a personal matter for everyone).

WHAT COMPARABLE PRODUCTS HAVE YOU RESEARCHED? (BUDGET) The first film to compare to could be ‘Death Note (2007)’; Since our film is based on a sketchbook, we are also inspired by this anime series and

would like our film to be in a style of this. The original story is about a young man called Light Yagami who is a genius high school student that discovers the "Death Note", a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. After experimenting with the notebook, Light meets the Shinigami Ryuk, the notebook's original owner, who dropped the notebook to the human world out of boredom. Light tells Ryuk of his plan to rule over a new world free from criminals as a god, where only people he deems morally fit to live remain. Light eventually becomes known to the public as the killer.

The second film to compare to this could be ‘Body of Lies (2008)’ is about a CIA agent (Roger Ferris) on the ground in Jordan hunts down a powerful terrorist leader while being caught between the unclear intentions of his American supervisors and Jordan Intelligence. Roger works with Jordan's head of security, whose only dictum is "Don't lie to me." The Americans are in pursuit of a cleric who leads a group placing bombs all over Europe. When Hani rebukes Ed's demand that Jordan allow the Americans to use one of Jordan's double agents, Roger and Ed hatch a plan to bring the cleric to them. The plan is complicated by its being a secret from Hani and by Roger's attraction to a local nurse. Satellites and cell phones, bodies and lies: modern warfare.

The third film that could be compared to this could be ‘London Has Fallen (2016)’ is about the Prime Minister's funeral in London with under mysterious circumstances. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The President of the United States, his formidable secret service head and a British MI-6 agent who trusts no one are the only people that have any hope of stopping it.

WHAT REPRESENTATIONS WILL BE OPERATING IN YOUR TEXT? ARE THESE JUSTIFIED?

Our text will operate to represent by the costume we wear in the film, perhaps the costume we wear for work or just going outside. Meanwhile, a detector must wear something casual and smart since they are detectives. However, the main character will wear darker clothes since she represents as the villain in the film. Also, second detector, AKA Jenny’s friend, will be wearing brighter clothes to represents as the hero in the film.

On the other hand, this will show the audience that Jenny and Kelly are the main characters since the camera is mainly focused specifically on two of these characters. As in most of the films, if a character is getting more on focus that may be because they are the main character and leader that leads to what the story is about.

HOW WILL YOU TEST WHETHER THE PRODUCT IS SUCCESSFUL?

HOW WILL YOU CHECK THAT IT ACCOMPLISHES THE INTENDED EFFECT?

I (along with the group) will test whether the product is successful by examine each member in the group to take the role of the characters and see if they able to take the expected roles. We will accomplish the intended effect by practising the script that will created by the group especially for each character in the film that we will create.

We will make this effective in the future because regarding of what the props and money it will cost, we will also make some people outside in the classroom to participate in this project.

The main reason we made the story plot like is because we have a deep meaning or message behind this story which was to show justice. The film we choose to be inspired by (‘Death Note’, 2007) is also shares the same message but in a different category.

The society is being forced upon to believe in Hollywood movies; where family background and the character’s itself is perfect thing and have a happy ending. However, we are not intending to spread that message but instead, make people realize that not all films end with a happy ending and not all friendship stay the same.

Page 12: Film Pitch (AS LEVEL MEDIA S.)

WHAT GENERIC CODES AND CONVENTIONS WILL BE OPERATING IN YOUR TEXT?

The generic codes and conventions will be operating to our text by:

Mystery You expect questions (or answering questions) when some incident happens in the film. The audience might get curious or try to predict what it is going to happen.

Horror You would expect things that can be considered scary, certain environments and characters, everyday fears and problems and sometimes suspense. The audience may wander and gets frighten by a sudden loud noise and a scary display on the screen.

Action You expect to see movements and dramatic loud music background to make the fighting/battling scene more interesting.

Page 13: Film Pitch (AS LEVEL MEDIA S.)

ARE THERE ANY (HIDDEN) MESSAGES INCORPORATED INTO THE TEXT?

There are hidden messages incorporated into the text by showing the reality of a person with advantages and disadvantages. Conveying that not all detectors are right and the terrorism around the world is always unpredictable. It might be bad or good way of treatment; it is so called globalization.

Another hidden message could be for the sketchbook could be the message of a child’s only way of expressing their feelings, emotions and thoughts on a piece of paper or something like a diary. This is why we have chosen a sketchbook just to be our iconography and being inspired by a anime/manga series.

IDENTIFY ANY RESOURCE CONSTRAINTS (TIME, MONEY, EQUIPMENT, HUMAN RESOURCES) THAT MIGHT AFFECT YOUR PRODUCTION AND YOUR HOPES FOR YOUR PRODUCT:

We personally think and plan to ask people outside the classroom as we need more characters during our filmmaking which we think it will make our film opening more interesting and more meaningful. When it comes to money and props, I brought a fish eye camera lens specially for phones, since we will record our film with a phone camera. Also, we are also planning to brought a sketchbook since it’s our iconography. For the character costume, we think that we will wear our own personal clothing since it’s going to be a smart/formal wear and the film is going to be about a job to do. We will also waste some food such as the scene where the main character has a mental breakdown, dropping the cereal or the milk on the floor.Additionally, we hope to use these products for our filmmaking and finger crossed that our film will turn out successful!
