What is Distribution? Distribution is 'the action of sharing something out among a number of recipients' Distribution is 'the way in which something is shared out among a group or spread over an area 'These are terms Taken from the Dictionary But in my own terms I believe distribution is the handing out of products, goods etc. in different areas. The process of Film Distribution When a distributor wants to distribute a film, two parties arrive at a distribution agreement based on Leasing and Profit sharing. The leasing model basically says yes to a paid fix amount for the ability to distribute the film. In a different case, if the studio has a profit- sharing relationship shop, the distributor will get a percentage of net profits which were made from the film. The goal of this this would be so that both of the studios and distribution company's would be able to guess and Predict which model would benefit the most. Commonly the major studios do have their own distribution companies which makes it a lot easier to set up a distribution deal. When the company then has the rights to the film, they then start to provide the movies to the cinemas and dvds, etc. Once the film has been leased, debuting the film is very important. Things such as Studio, Target Audience, Star power, Buzz are all very important. Finding out how much people would want it helps the distributor to estimate the number of prints. Overall Once a buyer is interested in a movie, the lease terms are discussed.

What is Distribution?Distribution is 'the action of sharing something out among a number of recipients' Distribution is 'the way in which something is shared out among a group or spread over an area 'These are terms Taken from the Dictionary But in my own terms I believe distribution is the handing out of products, goods etc. in different areas.

The process of Film DistributionWhen a distributor wants to distribute a film, two

parties arrive at a distribution agreement based on Leasing and Profit sharing. The leasing model basically says yes to a paid fix amount for the ability to distribute the film. In a different case, if the studio has a profit-sharing relationship shop, the distributor will get a percentage of net profits which were made from the film.

Things such as Studio,Target Audience, Star power, Buzz are all very important. Finding out how much people would want it helps the distributor to estimate the number of prints. Overall Once a buyer is interested in a movie, the lease terms are discussed.

SonyThere are distribution companies such Sony. Sony is one of the six major film studios which shows that it is a very successful film distribution company. It focus on things such as electronic games, entertainment etc. Films such as karate kid, Charlie's angles, and the match of the penguins films which have been represented through the distribution company of Sony. On September 28, 1989, SONY COOPERATION obtained an option to purchase all of THE COKE COLA COMPANYS stake (49%) in Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc. Sony has since created numerous other film production and distribution units, such as creating SONY PICTURE CLASSICS for art-house fare. On November 18, 2012, Sony Pictures announced it has passed $4 billion with the success of releases:

Universal pictures have distributed films such as The Bourne Legacy, savages, the mummy returns and Sherlock homes etc. The films which are disturbed by these companies have similarities to the film that we were producing. The bourn Legacy involves a lot of suspense and action which we tried to implicate in our Title sequence. This may suggest that Universal pictures love films which that try and show this and I feel it is shown in our title sequence. The film ‘savage’ conveys a lot of adrenaline which is also done in our title sequence. Universal pictures may like the aspect of the impact of adrenaline and how it has an impact on the audience. I believe this aspect of this did fit onto our title sequence so this would benefit universal pictures if they did feel that they liked the film. I find the mummy returns a very scary and thriller film and I feel that our film ‘Meat Eater’ is also very much like this. Sherlock Holmes is a film which has a lot of suspense and unawareness involved. It normally leaves people quite confused and ‘Meat-Eater’ is very much like that So I feel universal pictures would like that. Warner brother’s presents I am legend and because of that I feel that warner brothers would be interested in our film. I feel our films are quite similar due to the Virus and zombies impact and I feel they like that sort of story line and topic. Both films involve a lot of suspense and confusing which Warner brothers may like a lot.

Limitless is distributed by Relativity Media. I feel that this distribution company would be interested in our film. Limitless is based on a drug that man is addicted to which is quite similar to our film. This shows that relativity media may consider taking our film due to the type of film it is.‘Meat Eater’ will only be to targeted to UK audiences for a various of reasons. The reason I would only appeal my film to UK audience is because I don’t feel the research we done we be enough. There is a huge difference between the UK and other places so if I did want for more people I would need to do more primary and secondary research.

My film only appeals to UK audience due to the idea that we didn’t do enough research to make it available for a wider range of people. If I was going to make my film for a wide appeal I would need to go into more research from things such as what peoples favourite films were in Different countries to things such as how much people are willing to spend in cinemas all over the world etc. I believe that it would be very hard to target a wider audience due to the different opinions and perspectives they all have.

There are some marketing strategies that we could use when trying to market our film. An important thing to make good would the trailer, as this is the first view they can see of what the film consists of and involves. Advertising is important part of marketing as this will encourage people to come and watch the film if done well. Newspapers, TV ads, Posters are all good ways to encourage people to come and watch the film which will also promote it. Internet is also very important when it comes to marketing. The internet allows you to put up things such as behind scenes and sneak peeks etc. Release strategies such as release schedules are very important. Being able to launch the film on different dates may maximize sales.

look very interesting and professional so that people would want to watch it and it would appeal to them. Without this, people won’t have an idea if the film would be good as they have had no insight. Advertising is another important marketing strategy. This can be done through having ads in magazines, newspapers and the internet. This will give the audience knowledge that a new film which is going to be shown . Knowing your goals is a very important release strategy as when trying to distribute your film, a lot of other things may come in the way for example money, career launch etc. so it is important that you have your main goals set so that other things do not get in the way. Exhibition options are very important as it is seen as ‘windows of opportunity’. I believe it helps make the film better as opportunities are open and changes are made. I believe self-distributing would also be good idea but there are many benefits and disadvantages that it may suffer from for example if we did want to self-distributing it would mean that would need to do a lot of research before tackling any of the tasks as it would be very important not to get anything wrong. Self-Distribution would also be a benefit as it will show a level of knowing and professionalism as you independent enough to do that. A disadvantage of self-publishing would be that the cost may be very high in price and they have much more responsibility in marketing and promoting.
