Degrees of FlexibilityWe offer four different degree schemes,

all of which combine theory and practice

in innovative, exciting and dynamic ways.

Each of the degrees is carefully designed

to allow you to follow your own interests;

you can combine and develop your

creative, technical and critical skills in any

way you wish.

Our theory modules can be combined with

practice based modules, so you can put

theory into practice and create your own

innovative productions. You may wish to

explore critical processes through digital

video production, professional editing, and

3D animation, or focus on the creative

aspects of narration.

This is a truly flexible approach which will

engage you in an exciting range of critical

debates, creative processes, and technical

skills. You will leave us with key skills in

research, analysis, communication and

technology; a truly flexible graduate ready

for the modem workplace.

The Media Studies degree is an excellent

opportunity to combine theory and

practice based approaches in exciting

ways. You will have the opportunity to

choose theory and practice modules

depending on your own strengths and

interests. Our innovative approaches to

teaching means that critical ideas can

be explored through practice based

methods.

Theory courses develop critical skills,

examining the history of our media

institutions, how they are formed, and

how they continue to develop. From the

BBC to YouTube, newspapers, social

networking, computer games and mobile

phones, you will examine the role of the

media in our culture, politics, history, the

shaping of our futures, our pleasures,

desires and identities.
