TRANSCRIPT
Metroval started its activities in 1988 manufacturing oval gear type positive
displacement meters, through a technology transfer agreement with Bopp & Reuther -
Germany. In 1991, Coriolis mass flow meters were added to its product line, again through
a technology transfer agreement, this time with Rheonik Messgeräte - Germany. Metroval
remains until today the sole manufacturer of these types of meters in Brazil.
Metroval´s product line includes a wide range of positive displacement and Coriolis
meters together with a series of equipments designed mainly for oil and gas measurement
and control, as well as dosing systems for container filling and many other customized
systems.
Metroval has consistently distinguished itself for offering its customers quality in
products and services, therefore, it was a natural consequence that in 1994 it was among the
first Brazilian companies to obtain ISO 9000 certification.
In 2002 Metroval opened a branch in Macaé (Petrobras base in the Campos Basin,
the main oil production area in Brazil) in order to consolidate its operations in the field of oil
and gas measurement.
Currently Metroval has the largest experience in flow measurement in the Brazilian
market. This experience enables Metroval to offer comprehensive solutions, ranging from
design, manufacture, set up, installation and integration.

Metroval Laboratories comprises 9 test benches for
flow meter calibration. 4 of them are for volumetric
calibration and 5 for mass calibration.
Audited by INMETRO, Brazilian weights and
measurements authority, it meets all NBR-ISO / IEC 17025
requirements, granting official status to its certificates, and
membership in the Brazilian Calibration Network (RBC).
Our flow laboratory is one of the few in Brazil which has
available both water and oil as calibration fluids.
Our facilities enable us to carry calibration services on
most flow meters operating in the national market, including
meters from foreign manufacturers. Both servicing and
calibration can be followed in our lab by our client's
technicians.
Metroval maintains an extensive database, covering all
meters calibrated in our laboratory since 1988.
Covering thousands of equipments of various types,
from different manufacturers and hundreds of customers,
our database can be accessed through client name, serial
number, type of meter, year of manufacturing and other
criteria, therefore it is possible to establish, together with
the customer, an optimal maintenance and calibration
program based on sound information from this historical
data.
Technical Support
Metroval technical support is a 50 men team,
specialized in servicing, repairing, diagnosis, equipment
set up, instrument calibration, flow control, temperature,
pressure and BS&W (base sediment and water) on either
Metroval or third party equipment.
We provide service and support on-shore and off-
shore.Metroval provides training on instrumentation and
industrial control, flow meter systems and flow metering
systems design. We also organize workshops and
seminars to spread the state of the art flow meter
technology.
Our training programs are conducted by qualified
personnel renowned in their fields.
Training programs are flexible in terms of location,
content and duration, in order to adapt to customer's
needs.
Training
Our Engineering Department is qualified
to develop flow metering systems design,
comprising the following areas: Process,
Instrumentation and Automation, Piping,
Metal Structures and Electrical.
We develop Solutions concerning:
• On-shore and off-shore process
analysis for quotes and bids.
• Facilities improvement.
• Technical specifications and Descriptive
Memorials for service contracting.
• Consultancy for adjusting facilities to
l e g a l r e q u i r e m e n t s a c c o r d i n g t o
ANP/INMETRO.
• Elaboration of Process Flow Diagrams
(PFD´s) and Piping & Instrumentation
Diagrams (P&I´s).
• Process data-collecting for elaboration
of instrument data sheets (FD´s) for the
metering systems.
• Sizing of primary flow elements such as
orifice plates and V-Cone.
•
measurement straight runs, according to AGA
3 and ISO 5167.
• Elaboration of data sheets and
specification of equipment, instruments,
instrument panels and automation systems.
• Detailed projects, embodying all
activities that enable the installation,
maintenance, and suitable operation of the
systems, as well as installation details, plans,
diagrams, material lists, isometric piping,
specifying metallic structures, one-line
diagrams, distribution of power supplies.
• 3D projects in PDS (Plant Design
System), applied mainly to the existing
installations, enabling the creation of
flowcharts of location plants, isometric
piping, conduction of electric trays and
instrumentation with the creation of a list of all
used materials.
• Purchasing support.
• Document certification of the suppliers
for the composition of the system´s Data
Book.
Sizing and specification of flow
Oil and Gas
Our acquired knowledge in flow measurement over
the last two decades has granted Metroval the largest flow
metering contract in Brazil up to the present moment. It
includes fourteen off shore platforms metering systems
upgrade.
In order to better serve our clients in that area,
Metroval opened in 2002 its branch in Macaé, which is
devoted mainly to the oil and gas industry.
