Configure a new session •  Click the icon on the top-left corner to open the Site

Manager, and then “new Site” on the new dialog box •  If you don’t want to create a new session, see the last

page of this slide for a quick connection

XP Configure a new session •  Type whatever session name you want (e.g., students.calu),

must type students.calu.edu in Host, you can leave the port blank, choose FTP as Server Type, choose “Only use plain FTP”, choose “Account” in Logon, then type “calupa\kit3317” where kit3317 (it is an example, you should type yours!) is your owncalu email username

•  Give whatever name for the Account name

Connect to students.calu.edu •  If you everything is good, you should see the figure on the right,

where you will see two windows, left is your Local computer, right is Remote site, your account on students.calu.edu

XP To correct your existing session •  If you mistyped info when you created the session or you

just changed your email password, you should correct your setting by click by clicking the , and change your password on the next dialog. Then either click the Connect or OK

Upload files •  To upload a file/folder, first locate the file/folder on your

Local site (the left part), for example, the “FTP3.png” under Document (in Mac). Select the file (FTP3.png) or folder, then drag to your right window.

FTP3.png is just an example used here. In your assignment, you are going to upload the webpage you created (e.g., about.html)

Download files •  In case you want to download a file (e.g., test.htm) from

students.calu.edu to your local computer, locate the destination on your local computer that you want to download to, for example, your “Documents” folder. Click the file (e.g., test.htm) and drag from Remote Site to your Local Site, as the red arrow shows.

Mange your students account

•  To delete a file/folder on your students.calu.edu account, select the file/folder (e.g., test.htm) and press “Delete” on your keyboard, or right click and choose “Delete”, then click “Yes” in the next dialog box

Mange your students account •  To create a folder (e.g., CSC201W1) on your

students.calu.edu, right click on the remote site, and choose Create Directory. In the next dialog box, replace the “New directory” with the folder name “CSC201W1”, then “OK”
