Hey everyone, Hope you’ve had a wonderful half term and managed to rest a little. Please find below the home learning for this week. In phonics, we are starting on Set 2 sounds which will repeat the same sound over two days. One day will focus reading the sound and the second day will focus on writing the sounds. In maths we are learning about length, height and days of the week and our topic this week is transport. Please keep the pictures and e-mails coming this week and stay safe. Miss Loney xx

Hope you’ve had a wonderful half term and managed to rest a little.

Please find below the home learning for this week.

In phonics, we are starting on Set 2 sounds which will repeat the same sound over two days. One day will focus reading the sound and the second day will focus on writing the sounds.

In maths we are learning about length, height and days of the week and our topic this week is transport.

Learning intention: to read and write the sound ay and ee.

Adult led:

Activities: Write the following words on small pieces of paper: pay, way, spray, play, may, see, sleep, sheep, meet. Then draw a giant ay sound and a giant ee sound on 2 pieces of paper. Crumple up the small pieces of paper with words on to look like snow balls. Throw them all up in the air and then ask your grown up to time how long it takes for you to decide which sound the word belongs to.

MathsThis week we are learning at length, height and days of the week.

MondayLearning intention: To compare height and begin to use the language taller and shorter.

Just as a suggestion…if you would like to plant seeds I would recommend grass or cress seeds as they grow quicker OR and I would probably go for this option in school, I would find something else to measure. Maybe they could measure their teddies? Again, if you don’t have cubes try using dry pasta or anything else that you have a lot of around the house.

Topic/challengeThis week we are learning about different modes of transport and we are learning all

about our family and family tree.

MondayLearning intention- To learn about different types of transport.

Activity- To design your own type of transport.

In this lesson with Miss Hughes, we look at the features of different modes of transport and end the lesson by designing our own. Think carefully about how you would like your vehicle to move and what features it needs. You can bring the lesson to life by building your transport after the lesson.

ThursdayLearning Intention- Tolook at different types of vehicles that we use to move from place to place

Activity- To use construction materials to build a vehicle.

In today's lesson, we are going to be thinking about the different vehicles that we use to travel from one place to another. We will use construction resources to construct a representation of our chosen vehicle. The three key areas that this lesson links to are expressive arts and design, mathematics and understanding the world.

In this lesson you will be exploring the different types of families. We will learn about extended families and new additions. You will be looking closely at who is in your family and be creating your very own family tree, using images; either photographs or drawn images, to show how people are related to you.
