Raster Graphics

are joined up together that look like a grid. But when you stretch them the pixels go out focused and you can see all small squares, in which the pictures goes blurry.

• Give a definition of Vector Graphics• Vector graphics are made up of Vector/Paths and when you

stretch it stays the same but gets bigger, because it uses objects such as lines and circles.

Used For/Example They are used for Photographs and Web formats.

Advantage They take up less file room.

They are compressed.

Disadvantage Looses quality with multiple edits.It also looses recompression each time you edit it.

TIFFStands For Tagged file format desktop publishing

Used For/Example TIFF is an image file format that stored the images and you can also edit in.

Advantage It has the option for lossless compression which doesn't loose any quality due to compression.

It can store multiple documents.

They also record JPEGS.

Disadvantage The file size will fill up quickly.

GIFStands For Graphics interchange Format

Used For/Example They are used for Short Animation andthey are often on the internet. It plays a series of images after one an other to make a video.

Advantage GIF has a small file size.Great for internet use.

Disadvantage Every time you Compress it, it looses detail/info due to convertion.

BMPStands For Bitmap Image File

Used For/Example They are made up of pixels that are different colors.

Advantage Similar to TIFF and JPEG.

No loss in compression.

Has a large file size.

Disadvantage When they are stretched into a large size you loose detail and see squares which are pixels.

PSDStands For Photoshop Documents

Used For/Example They are used for image manipulation. They are used for front cover in magazines.

Advantage They save layouts, page formatting and save information.

PSD also supports transparency.

Disadvantage You have to save it in another format so you can view it.

AIStands For Adobe Illustrator

Used For/Example It is used for logo creation and graphics to represent companies.

Advantage They can be scaled big and small unlike vectors.

You can make frames with AL.

Disadvantage You have to have a specialized software to be able to pen it.

FLAStands For Flash File

Used For/Example Flash File is used to create animation and games.

Advantage They can produce a high quality file.

Can include sound and video.

Come more accessible to everybody.

Disadvantage Lets u put a video into a large file.

Every time you compress it, it sometimes loose can quality.

WMFStands For Windows Metafile

Used For/Example It is used for creating logos and its similar to AL.

Advantage WMF contains both bitmap and rector graphics.

Disadvantage If you have Microsoft you can only use itwith that software.

information then it loses the information because you have recompressed it which means you have edited it. Then it makes it harder to put information in.

Advantage Improved the file transmission file.If u squeezed it you could put more on it.

Disadvantage You cant look at the file you need to uncompress it.
