Fighting fire is not an option, it’s a way of life.

In the town of Slave Lake Alberta residents dread

the first signs of Spring.

Rising temperatures, high winds, long droughts

and rainless lightening storms are a deadly

weather blend that ignite the forests surrounding

the town and threaten its existence every

single year.

In May of 2011 massive forest fires surrounded

the town, seemingly bent on wiping it off the

map. Over two hellish days, 40% of the town was

burnt to the ground. From the ashes of one of

the country’s worst fire disasters rose a team of

fire fighters determined never to let their town

catch on re again!

Now, an elite team of 9 men fly into live fire,

drop from a hovering helicopter and investigate

the source of the fire. Slave Lake has gone up in

flames before. They won’t let it happen again.

13 x 1 hour Docu Series

Over a 13-episode series we get up close and

personal with the Slave Lake Fire department. This

remote community, 4 hours from the closest major

city, relies on the men and boys who make up this

unit. A father and son, neighbors, best friends; to-

gether they fight raging fires.

Diverse Rescue:While the massive forest fires are a regular battle

and often the lead story, being so remote means

this unit contends with much more than just forest

fires. Led by Chief Jamie Coutts this fire depart-

ment is on call for every and anything that goes

wrong in Slave Lake. From Boat rescue to hazmat

control to motor vehicle collisions. From search

and rescue to structural fires to saving a cat from

a tree, these guys are prepared for anything.

Cool Toys:After the disasters of 2006, this fire department

completely reinvented itself years. A massive

training facility servicing fire departments from

Southern states to northern territories, the

department boasts some of the worlds coolest

and most cutting edge rescue tools and toys.

Hell fire Heroes is a compelling docu-series following a group of men who have no choice but to do

the work they do. It’s back breaking, dirty and fast, but it’s what it takes to keep Slave Lake safe.

These guys have guts and glory, but more than anything, they have each other.
