Mission Statement Through the teachings of Jesus Christ and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we, as Catholic Christians, strive to teach our youth, evangelize our community and renew our faithful. We will promote the principles of the Catholic Church through Scripture, Sacraments, prayer, almsgiving and penance —
helping each other to seek eternal salvation with God in heaven.

OUR PASTOR ’S PAGE
Anger
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We’ve all been there before: Someone has made us mad. We are ticked off. “My
wife spent way too much. My husband is ‘zoning me out.’ My kid talked back to me and
I’m at my wits end. My parents told me I could not hang out with my friends this weekend.
That politician is lying through his teeth. That parishioner is griping again. (Does he or
she ever have something good to say?).” Anger. We’ve all been there, and we know
when we’ve lost our temper. We let a stream of cuss words out of our mouth; we
scream; we slam the door or hang up the phone violently; we press the ‘send’ button on
that ugly text message or email. Maybe we’ve even gotten physically violent. And while
we can always ask forgiveness, once we let those words come out of our mouths or we
become violent, we have to accept the consequences. And this is why anger is a deadly
sin.
Anger (or wrath) is an intense emotional response to a perceived provocation, hurt
or threat. Anger is often the response to an injustice to oneself or a loved one. And
when we are hungry or tired, it is even easier to get angry. According to the Catechism,
anger is neutral; it is neither good nor evil. However, the way anger manifests itself can
be either virtuous or vicious. Anger is sometimes justified, like when Jesus overturns the
tables of the moneychangers in the Temple. Righteous anger can move us to work for
justice. But more often than not, anger drives us not to justice, but to vengeance. It is
linked to the Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill,” and Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount
teaches us that we have to catch anger in the heart before it becomes insult, slander or
violence.
The virtue opposed to anger is patience and meekness. When we are meek and
patient, we avoid negativity, we control our temper, and we “cool off” to make sure we re-
act rationally and charitably. Patience is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit and a sign that God
is at work in our lives. But patience is not easy; we learn it the hard way. It helps us to
realize that the events in this world run on God’s time — not ours. Ultimately, God’s jus-
tice must be served — not ours. God is in control — not us. “You are God, I am not.”
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Lowry

PÁGINA DE NUESTRO PASTOR
Ira
Estamos marcados.
"Mi esposa gastó demasiado. Mi esposo está "zoning me out." Mi hijo me contestó mal
"Ira. Todos he-
"Tú eres Dios, yo no soy".
Suyo en Cristo,
Fr. Lowry
