FIFTH HAI HAND HYGIENE DAY AT THE PARK NEW DELHI The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared May 5 as the World Hand Hygiene Day. Over 180 countries, including India, celebrate the World Hand Hygiene Day annually emphasizing hand hygiene related promotional activities as national priority. HAI intends to create awareness among the local communities, schools, orphanages, public institutions, guests, visitors and employees of hotels and the people who handle food about the importance of washing hands with soap and water or using a hand sanitizer as the simplest and most cost-effective way of promoting community well-being through prevention of respiratory illnesses, common cold, influenza and other infections. The Team at The Park New Delhi visited P & T Senior Secondary School and spread the message “Make some bubbles, kill those troubles.” The highlights of this great initiative were as follows: 1. The Park created an environment in the Hotel conducive to the Hand Hygiene Day's significance with displays, videos and posters. 2. The Park team performed an easy demonstration on the song,’ Hand wash dance’ and showed the steps to wash the hands properly. 3. Chef Nakul & Sonali from the team explained the importance of the Hand Hygiene & proper procedure to wash hand to maintain sanitation. 4. The Park associated with Lifebuoy as a brand for this activity. It is well known that Lifebuoy is The Worlds No 1 germ protection and hygiene and the world leading soap by Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Lifebuoy distributed bottles of liquid soap to all students. 5. Each member of the team made sure that the students know the steps to wash the hands and how to maintain proper hygiene by doing the hand wash steps with them. 6. Exciting goodie bags, refreshments and art kits were distributed to the students for them to take the experience home. 7. The Park also donated 20 chairs to the school for the teachers. It was very heartwarming to receive such a delightful response from the students and the teachers. This is the way forward for a 'Healthy Hotel' through always supporting and promoting a healthy environment for now and for future generations.
