PICK ELEMENTARY PE Checklist
Fitness component; Students are asked to spend 15-20 minutes a day participating in Physical Activity. Keep in mind the 15 minutes of play is the minimum required, students and families may wish to set a higher amount of time (60 minutes is a great goal). Track your total time of activity each day by logging in the number of minutes spent doing any activity. If your activity is not listed below, fill in at the bottom. Add up the number of minutes each day and see if you reached your goal.

Nutrition component; Students and families can also set a goal of staying well hydrated and making healthy food choices. Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Check off each box for each glass of water you drink.

Health component; Remember sleep is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and helps the body’s immune system work more efficiently. Make sure to get 8-10 hours of sleep each night. Also remember screen time should be limited before bedtime as the blue light that is emitted from these screens can delay the release of sleep-inducing melatonin, increase alertness, and reset the body's internal clock (or circadian rhythm) to a later schedule.
Pick PE Daily ChallengesContinue to log daily activity and fitness log and record you water consumption as well. You can send these logs into your teachers with your weekly assignments.
Monday
Trash bag tag- This is a game that you will need a sibling, parent, or a friend. You will need at least a grocery bag or sock, old cloth or something that you can tuck into your shoe. Whatever you use, needs to hang out of your shoe a little. Tuck it in on the outside of your shoe. You can have one tucked into each shoe if you have wanted. The object is to then step on your opponent’s grocery bag and pull it out of their shoe. If you only have one bag each, the winner is the first to get the bag out. If you have several bags, then when your bag is taken by your opponent, go get another bag and tuck into your shoe. If you steal your opponent’s bag, you get to keep. Once all bags are taken, count and see who has the most bags. This is a great family activity.
Tuesday – Scavenger hunt- Let’s go on a scavenger hunt! I will list several things. See if you can go find them all. It may be fun to time yourself. Once you are finished make sure to clean up after yourself. When finished if you want to make your own scavenger hunt feel free! Ready…GO!
-Pair of socks -Towel-Plastic Bag -Stick-Back Pack -Ball-Leaf -Toy Figurine -Flower -Shoe-Ear phones -Coin-Box -Spoon-Coat -Picture-Cup -Rock-Pine Cone -Hat
Wednesday - Work Out Wednesday- I will give you a list of exercises. After completing repeat and do a second set. Complete the workout!10 push-ups (modify them if needed)10 sit ups10 squats10 high jumps10 toe touches
Thursday – Dance to your favorite song- Turn on the radio, play your favorite song or songs and dance! Do your favorite dance, make one up, get your mom or dad to teach you one of their favorites. Just get up and dance!!!
Friday -Free Choice Friday- Choose your favorite lesson from the week (or multiple lessons) and repeat. Dance to a song, workout, go on a scavenger hunt, or play the trash bag game. Get up, move, and have fun!!!
*remember you can modify each activity and use various types of equipment for each activity.
Art Texture HuntTexture is an Element of art that we use often but don’t really realize when we do use it. There are two types of texture: Visual (the appearance of texture on a drawn or painted surface) and Tactile (the way the surface of a real object feels when you touch it).
Find a few sheets of copy paper/notebook paper and pealed crayons. A few colors of crayon just for fun. They can be broken or new but pealed.
Let’s go on a texture hunt outside if possible and inside your home too. Look for both types of texture as you walk around (Visual and Tactile). How does that texture feel? Is it bumpy? Is it smooth? Prickly? Soft? How would you draw that texture? Do some adjectives come into your head quickly when you touch certain textures? Other textures leave you “speechless”?
Printer brick door mat
cement. wood Try collecting the things you are seeing by rubbing the crayon over the paper to capture the texture. You will need to place the paper on top of the texture item and then use the SIDE of the crayon and rub it back and forth to get the image. This is a texture rubbing. Be careful collecting rubbings so that the crayon doesn’t get on the item you are making a rubbing of!
Collect 6-8 rubbings and then let’s make some art. You have choices now on what to make. Do you have something in mind you are wanting to draw/make? A plant? A car? An animal? A person? Still life? Landscape?
Wow, I’m not sure what I want to do first. Okay, I’m going to try to make a rooster- because I see them right in front of me that my girls have given me and I like chickens and roosters.
I am going to cut my texture papers into basic shapes. I’m not worrying about the color- this one will be colorful and abstract for sure!
Again, Not gluing mine down- just enjoying creating! Send me what you end up making at [email protected] or to your teacher! Keep making art and be happy! Mrs. Hames
