Fr. Basso and I went on a mission 2 by 2, experiencing what the Gospel relates, that Jesus sent his disciples without any security but relying completely on the providence of God. I went to Pueblo and Fr. Basso went to Kansas. We will relate our experiences in per- son next Sunday. The work in the sacristy is proceeding and the parishioner who is donating his time and material to redo the cabinets and closets has begun work on it. I also bought the tiles to replace the floor. I hope we can have a new sacristy by mid-August. I also plan to do our picnic, which was a suc- cess last year; this years picnic will be August 30 th . On the first week of August (from the 5 th to the 9 th ), Fr. Basso and I will take the youth to the summer camp. More details to come. The Gospel of today relates the parable of the sower. This is a word about listening to the word of God, which comes down like rain and does not leave the soil without accomplishing its purpose. The para- ble of today however, tells us that on the contrary, in certain situations the seed of the word of God is not able to accomplish the purpose for which it was disseminated. This depends on the one who lis- tens, who at times is not able to listen, but only to hear. The seed finds different types of terrain; relevant here is the soil where the word of God is sown among thorns”, which is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit”. I want to pause on this ground, because it is very common to try to compro- mise Christianity with the things of the world, and not

Those who are sick and want their names an-nounced from the altar and listed in the bulle-tin please call the Parish Office 303-761-3940. Also, call the office if you wish to be anointed prior to entering the hospital or if someone in the hospital needs to be anointed.
