Delivering Food , Shelter and Hope to the Poorest of the Poor
Our parish will be hosting an Outreach Priest on August 5-6, 2017. Father Tim Ryan will be speaking at all Masses on behalf of Cross
Catholic Outreach. This will give us the opportunity to share in
celebrating the success of the Church in helping the poorest of
the poor around the world. Don’t miss it!
Rev. Tim Ryan
My dear Parishioners,
In years gone by, summer was an easy season. It
seemed that it afforded us a break from the ordinary
routine of the other seasons. There was a letup in
church activities, a slower pace, a time for vacationing
and relaxing on the porch or in the back yard, at the
beach or in the mountains. Much of this was due to the
fact that the lives of so many families centered on the
local school. The school year regulated much of our
schedule. With school out during the summer, everyone
seemed to have been given a break.
Such is not the case today, school or no school, the pace
goes on and even quickens for many. Parishes like
ours’ are busy places year round. Personally, I find the
summer months provide an opportunity to review and
plan, to reorganize and set some goals for the coming
year, which, of course, begins with our youngsters re-
turning to school.
Here at St. Paul of the Cross, our Pastoral and Finance
Councils have been reviewing their Constitutions and
Bylaws, their terms of office, and considering some
necessary changes in the three major areas of our parish
ministry: worship, education and formation, and social
justice. The summer arrival of Fr. Patrick as our new
Parochial Vicar has come as a breath of fresh air to both
English and Spanish speaking parishioners, as well as to
myself. Summer’s not over yet; there’s more to come.
Stay tuned!
—-Fr. Jerome, C.P.

vivir nuestra fe y compartir nuestra fe.
