Copa America is the foremost soccer event of

the world.

Every four years, CONMEBOL (Confederation of

South America for football association)

organizes Copa America football cup in any

South American country which is CONMEBOLs

member.

Copa America format has gone through many

changes since it is started in 1916. Now you can

It also followed the league format for few years.

Now it has adapted the Robin round format

followed by quarter finals, semifinals and finals.

This year 12 nations or teams are divided into

three groups.

Each group has four nations. Initially, all the

countries in each group will play match against

its group-mate.

The winners and the best two third place teams

will advance into the quarterfinals.

In the knockout stage or final match, if the match

is going draw at the end, extra time will be

given to play.

In spite of this if the scores are draw at the end;

the winner is decided by a penalty shootout.

The winners of the quarter finals will play the

semifinals which will render two finalist teams.

The winner team of Copa America will also get

a right to play the Confederation Cup 2017

which is to be held at Russia.

There are three groups A, B and C with each group having four countries.

Group A comprises Chile, Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia. Group B has Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Jamaica and Group C has Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. Visit on this link for Copa America live updates.
