Pictures of Field Trip:
Clay AvenueCommunity
Garden (NYRP)
On April 7th, students from School For Excellence took a walk through their neighborhood to Clay Avenue Community Garden. There, the garden’s coordinator shared with them what the garden
does, how it’s maintained, and how the community is involved. They also had an
opportunity to take home a plant each, as they learn how to care for plants.
Enjoy the pictures!
George, the garden’s coordinator explains why there are “hills” in the plant boxes.
Students listen attentively and take notes while George describes various aspects of the garden.
George describes the rain water tank and how this is a sustainable solution for the garden.
Students learn about how to care for a plant and each take home a seed in a cup that they hope will grow into beautiful flowers and peppers.
