Raised in Southern California, I still
remember those blissful days of driving
around the freeways, the Manson murder rage,
and all the stuff that makes Los Angeles what
it is. Out of high school I joined the Navy to
see the world and ride the waves. Spent two
very enjoyable years in Japan and protected
our nation from missiles in Cuba. After four
years in Uncle Sam’s canoe club, I worked for
a long time as a CPA but now I feel like all I
want to do is write - to entertain, to educate
maybe, to get my readers to laugh. Then I’d
feel like I’ve accomplished something. Got a law
degree and continue to be a member of the
California bar so I like to dabble in legal
controversy, hence the flavor of my novels. I’m
also a frustrated stand-up comedian. George
Carlin was my favorite so the humor in my
novels has that kind of flavor. But, having
studied for the priesthood, I’m still riddled and
haunted with questions and doubts. I wonder
sometimes – what does it all mean? How did
Mother Church and I go awry? I try to put
some of that perpetual anguish in my novels.
I’m an avid reader of novels and try my best to
very subtly copy the style of those I like. Still,
I want to write novels that are truly novel, not
copy-cat cookie cutters. Hence, I may, from
time to time, experiment with some different
approaches. Moved to the Midwest in 1980 to
get away from smog and parking lots
pretending to be freeways. Now, I appreciate
four season climate and swatting mosquitoes
in the summer.

A chance encounter on the streets of Baltimore inexplicably
leads to a bond between a cop and a kid from vastly different social
worlds. At the time, neither realizes the auspicious implications
of that interaction or what the future holds until a second
meeting brings them together a decade later. "A Person of Value"
is the first in a five part collection of novels that follows the two
characters through the years which are fraught with tension,
danger, and moral dichotomies of the soul. It seemed as if their

Biology tells us that animals need
four elements to exist: air, water, food,
and sex. Eliminating any one of those
from our "to do" list would make life
difficult, if not impossible. Yes, even
sex! How long would life continue without
sex? Lies, Myths, & Superstitions deals
with sex from every aspect and angle in a
purely humorous fashion. Other topics of
taboo conversation are molested as
well; e.g. politics, religion, science, and
sports. If you enjoy smiling, chuckling,
or laughing you'll like reading any
chapter of Lies, Myths, & Superstitions.
Each one stands alone to provide you
with insults that will enrage you or keep
you laughing.
If you love humor and religious satire don't miss this book. Wilson's tale doesn't pull any punches in this hilarious romp. Recommend: ★★★★

Set in the 1960s, Four Months In Brighton Park tells the story of tormented
high school student Kelly Elliot, a cross
between Holden Caulfield and Walter
Mitty, rarely facing reality until one day
when he is forced to confront the
consequences of his actions, after he
impulsively makes an obscene gesture at
Joe Swedarsky, the school jock and bully.
That initial conflict starts a cascade of

According to the Wall Street Journal, teachers are

teach believing untold wealth awaits them. The
purposely concealed story: national teacher shortage is
due to a dominating hostile work environment, created

I grew up in a very small east Texas town. My best friends were pen and paper. Writing poetry, short stories, and love letters helped me to maintain my sanity. When I was eleven years old I wrote, "The Reality of A Man Revealed in a Dream," a book that inspired Collateral Damages, Kept Secrets. I wrote this book because of the many things I experienced early in life that I was too ashamed to share with anyone. Writing my feelings in my notebook and reading the words, I realized how petty some of the things people said to me was, and how I was not going to let unkindness bring me down. The physical and verbal abuse by my father was the most hurtful. I recall one incident when he cursed me out after I asked him for a shirt to participate in a school program. Instead of encouragement, my father seemed to enjoy scolding me, and telling me I wasn't going to be shit in life. His lack of kindness did not cause me to succumb to bitterness, hatred, or failure, but showed me the type of man I did not want to become. Falling in love with my high school sweetheart and being loved by her helped me not only be a better man, but a loving man.

The book will deepen readers' understanding
of Beethoven's personality and motivations--
and his (perhaps justified) egotism in seeing
himself to be the real hero of his age. -- Kirkus
Reviews
This book traces how Beethoven, who was
agonizing over the onset of deafness, came
during his work on the ballet to identify with
the Titan's ordeal. He saw deafness as a most
undeserved fate for a composer who spent
most of his waking hours sketching and
polishing musical works as his own gifts to
mankind - but also as a cruelty that would
force him to withdraw from Viennese society.
By identifying with the determination of
Prometheus, Beethoven generated his own
inner resolve to surmount his suffering and
emerge with skills that enabled him to forge,
beginning with his revolutionary Third
Symphony (the Eroica), an entirely new path
for music in the nineteenth century. As with
Prometheus, so Beethoven himself became
unbound. ★★★★★

- A transcendent must-read.★★★★★
Not everyone climb mountains, however
stories of climbing adventures provide insight
into the adventure of life that we all share:
overcoming obstacles and reaching out to
something bigger and higher than immediate
daily activities. History and psychology
indicate that this is a strong human need that
includes having a sense of meaning and
purpose. Mountains can symbolize obstacles
in meeting these needs, and experiences in
climbing mountains provide a vehicle both
actually and figuratively for exploring
mechanisms and impacts involved.
For life to be meaningful and manageable,
people need a sense of purpose and coherence
that is best met by having belief in a higher
transcendent realm while also having enough
doubt about its nature or validity to pursue a
quest for ultimate reality despite the great
paradox.

This book and the characters in it are all fictional accounts of a
particular kind of person who has always been a perpetual
presence in all civilizations. There are no specific names
mentioned or photographic visuals provided in this work in
order to protect the rights of privacy and the innocent. It is,
however, a descriptive account of a generic specie of person
who has long survived by his unique talent to annoy others for
a lifetime. The subject is treated colloquially, subjectively,
even sociologically, in an effort to point out the flawed
personality of such a person.

The purpose of this book is to help all members of the human race gain an understanding of the pervasive epidemic of racism and how it is presently constructed on a global scale. I will review the impact and history of global racism and discuss how racism was formulated during the existing world racial order. I will identify past and present global racial inequalities; discuss the implication of global racial transformation and the resetting of global change. Finally, I will discuss ways to achieve global racial justice and sustainability.
A hilarious and scathing account of a certain type of jerk! An satirical must-read. ★★★★★.

2018 BRONZE MEDAL WINNER (YA: FANTASY/SCI-FI) MOONBEAM CHILDREN'S BOOK AWARDS Mac is an epic punk. In 1965, a determined thirteen-year-old
Phillip Walker Singleton leads his five friends
and darling ranch dog Libby, into the western
Colorado wilderness for a one-week pack trip.
Hiking, camping, fishing, wildlife encounters,
and high adventure await them on top of
Barrier Mesa. After years of preparation, they
certainly found what they were looking for,
and then some. It would be a high elevation
hail storm that would serve as a cold lesson to
the "Super Six". Soon after, the boys would
learn there are more than just stars and planets
in the night sky. It was a bear attack on the
hike back to the trailhead that would trigger a
stunning sequence of events. That not only
would make "Walker's" best friend "Bull" a
hero, but it would ultimately save his life.

Gym Class Hero by Martin Parks Kalmbach is not only a good book, but is
“A charming, inquisitive sports tale...” or so writes Kirkus Reviews. The
young adult fiction also won a difficult to earn, joint assessment from BookLife
Prize & Publisher’s Weekly 2018 Book Life Prize Contest writing,
“Kalmbach affords appropriate weight to pivotal moments in his protagonist's
development, offering a pleasing blend of relatable mishaps and dramatic depth
throughout.” Gym Class Hero is a story for adults and youth alike. ★★★★★
Life is throwing a lot at Stevie Kalkannes as he
begins his Junior year at Jackson High School. As
basketball season approaches in northern Ohio,
Stevie wonders whether he should return to
playing a game he loves after being the star of the
team in junior high, then giving it up in defiance of
an overbearing father, a bombastic sports talk
show host now divorced from Stevie's mother -
and a very critical older brother, a former star
player at Stevie's school. Gym Class Hero captures
the emotions of a high school basketball player as
he weaves his way in and out of trouble, often
caused by his spurious and irreverent comments
directed at coaches and teachers, and his inability
to make clutch free throws in the games waning
seconds. Adding to Stevie's high school quandaries
is a budding romance with a devilish fickle
cheerleader named Mindy, a recent transfer
student. A dating novice, Stevie contemplates
whether he should continue to date her as she both
boosts and undermines his confidence. Stevie turns
to two new friends he meets through his Food and
Fitness class for help, mature H.S. Senior girls
Alison and Jillian, wordies and citizen scientists,
who take him under their wing to advise him about
girlfriends, love, vegetarianism, yoga and
mindfulness, and to his surprise, give him
basketball tips to improve his game.

adversities and circumstances
that causes all types of pain.
However, don't lose heart. We

help from the Lord, prayer, and

Sometimes bad things happen to good people...
and when it does, we find ourselves in situations that
make us vulnerable to being hurt. When you think
about the most painful event in your life, what
would it be and is it still holding you down?
Remember the quote from Muhammad Ali, "Float
like a butterfly, sting like a bee?" Or what about
when Mike Tyson said, "Everyone has a plan till
they get punched in the mouth?" When it comes to
life, it's not how you fall, but how you get up.
I've been stung and punched. But in the end, I
learned that this cup of pain is not who I am, its only
part of my story. In my story, I decided to "Let Go
of the Load." We must let go of the load and
unburden ourselves from the pain and hurt holding
us back. If you are hurting and in sorrow, there is a
way out. Let's talk about it. My new book, "Let Go

I wrote this book for all the sexually abused girls and boys out there. I too, was a victim. I didn't go to therapy till I was in my forties and luckily I found a woman, who after our first session, asked me if I had been sexually abused "in that way" starting me on the path to healing. She was a wonderful woman and has since passed on to heaven. She also told me I had angels watching over me when I was a child, which I somehow intuitively knew. I would love to talk with each and everyone of you to help you along your journey to healing and my hope is to do so through this book. My hope is that, my book will help. I pray for all of you . Once in a while, I tell myself it happened, it's over, and I'm OK. I hope you all get there someday.
