The qualities of the sports wear can change so many things for athletes. For an athlete his outfit is a tool that can enhance his performance, there is a relationship like an F1 pilot and his vehicle.

Waterproof
![Page 5: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Protection from unexpected weather conditions
provided with three layered fabric.
![Page 6: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
3 layered structure
provided that when water
and wind could not get in,
water vapour can remove. It
stabilise the body
temperature and also these
properties give possibilities
of better performance.

GORE-TEX®
One of the textile
technology that provides a
breathable and
waterproof, layered
structured fabric is named
Gore-Tex. This technology
is a good example of how
layered fabrics work.
![Page 8: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Water Vapour Transfer
Removing the water vapour (perspiration) from skin is raleted with the type of fibres used in the construction of the textiles.
![Page 9: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Moisture is transported in textiles through capillary action. In
textiles, the emptiness between the fibers form tubes, which act as
capillaries, and takes away the liquid from the surface.
![Page 10: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Protection under windy
conditions
With all of the
functional layers
fabric also gain an
essentian property
that protects from
wind changes.
![Page 11: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Elasticity
Fabric stretch can be created by many different methods, such as:
1.Molecular chain geometry
2.Yarn processing
3.Structures
4.Finishing process(mercerization)
Todays strecth garments condition comfort and fit are most important Some information about Elastane yarns And statistical data for elastane
![Page 12: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
• Key strech points on the body.
Most important characteristics of clothing for sports
or fitness:
1. Comfort
2. Freedom of movement
3. Breathability
4. Machine washable
5. Durability
6. Fit
7. Lightweight
Characteristics of clothing

![Page 14: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
High-temperature dyeing or lamination can damage the stretch and recovery properties of some stretch fibres.
Therefore in soft-shell outerwear where there is only a need for moderate comfort stretch, the new generation of bi-component stretch fibres can be considered Lycra® T400 is a new bi-component-filament yarn.

Lycra fabric is one of the best durability.

ENHANCED PERFORMANCE
![Page 17: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Enhanced Performance
• increase the oxygen levels in
body tissues
• reduces the feeling of fatigue
• improved metabolism
• increased energy

HEAT TRANSFER
![Page 20: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Heat Transfer
There are 6 billion
pores per square inch
1 that provides the
exchange of heat and
moisture
![Page 21: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
PCM is added into acrylic, viscos, and polyester .

Opening Cones
Open at higher temperatures or high levels of activity :
At high tempratures or during sporting activity, the
correspondingly high level of moisture development causes
the structure of the product membrane to open. Excess heat
can escape to the outside.
HEAT/HIGH ACTIVITY
In nature:
1. Pine cones open
In the membrane:
2. Polymer structure opens and
becomes extremely permeable.
3. Excess body heat and moisture
can escape to the outside air.
4. Wind and waterproof.
![Page 23: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Closing The Cones
Closed at lower temperatures or periods of inactivity:
Due to the low moisture development at low
temperatcontracts ures or during rest periods, structure of the
membrane and retains the heat close to the body. Shivering
or cooling is effectively prevented.
COLD / INACTIVITY
In nature:
1. Pine cone is closed.
In the membrane:
2. Polymer structure contracts and
thus ensures better insulation.
3. High level of heat retention and
breathability create a pleasant
body climate.
4. Wind and waterproof.

PCM (Phase Change Materials)
PCM is added into acrylic, viscos, and polyester
![Page 25: Fiber science](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032217/55a968031a28abad518b469a/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
PCM (Phase change materials) is captured
in microcapsules.
