President’s Corner

Hello Everyone!

November has been a busy month and December shows no sign of slowing down. I hope that you are all doing well. This month, as we kick off our biggest fundraiser of the year, I hope that you are planning on coming out to our 32nd Holiday Bazaar (located at the Killeen Civic Center). It is this weekend (November 16th and 17th). The Bazaar is a great opportunity to pick up some holiday gifts for that hard to please relative or even a little something for yourself. It’s also a great opportunity to give back to your community, make some new friends or hang with some old, by volunteering to help. If you are interested in volunteering, please email [email protected].

If you are a member and a Facebook user, join the FHOSC Facebook group to see what is going on with the club and connect with other members. If you have a suggestion for something the club can do or if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I look forward to seeing you at all of our upcoming events.

Hope to see you at the Bazaar and Happy Thanksgiving!

Tracy Curran President Fort Hood Officers’ Spouses’ Club

Membership: Punching Your Ticket!

We had an awesome turnout in October and want to welcome all our new members! Please share the fun with your fellow spouses and encourage them to join too. Applications are always available electronically on the website or by emailing [email protected]. You may also apply in person at any club luncheon. Dues for the full year are $45.

Remember to get your stamps at all events. BRING YOUR PASSPORTS! Attending, volunteering, and donating earns you a stamp in your membership passport. Don’t forget, if you earn a minimum of 10 stamps during the year, you’re eligible to turn your passport in at our May 14th Luncheon for a prize drawing. There will be a special drawing for highly active members with 20 or more stamps!

We are continuing to verify directory information at the November luncheon. WE STILL HAVE ADVERTISING SPACE LEFT. We are seeking businesses for the last few advertising spots in the directory. All advertising contracts and payments are due by Monday, November 18th.

This is not a postmark date. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Lastly, as a member, you should be receiving periodic correspondence from the membership chairs. Most information intended for membership on a whole will be emailed from the membership chairs. It has come to our attention, that quite a few of our current members are not seeing our emails. Please check your spam filters and let us know if you don’t hear from us at least once a month!

Thanks so much,

Jessica P. & Tiffany Membership Co-Chairs

Calling All Volunteers….

The Fort Hood Officers’ Spouses’ Club 32nd Annual Holiday Bazaar is THIS WEEKEND! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. The committee and I have been working very hard to plan a wonderful event. The bazaar this year will be on November 16th from 9:00am to 5:00pm and November 17th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. We have a couple of volunteer opportunities available.

November 14—Taping the floors and setup starting at 9:00am

November 15—Vendor registration and setup

November 16 and 17—Two hour shifts helping with admission, selling opportunity and quilt tickets, and floaters. Shifts will start at 8:30am. After the bazaar ends we will need assis-tance with clean-up.

We will be offering childcare on Saturday and Sunday while you are volunteering for your two hour shift. You can drop your child off 10 minutes prior to your shift and you have 15 minutes after your shift ends to pick them up.

If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know the days you are interested in helping out at your earliest convenience. It is very important to let us know if you will need childcare as soon as possible. You can email us at [email protected].

We really appreciate your willingness to help out. Please remember that all volunteers will need to purchase a ticket to the bazaar. We look forward to seeing you all.

Thank you,

Christine Ramos FHOSC Holiday Bazaar Chair

Other Volunteer Opportunities

If you are looking for an opportunity to help during this holiday season here is a great oppor-tunity. On November 18, there will be an event at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center where they will be serving Thanksgiving dinner to about 700 senior citizens. We are looking for about 20 volunteers who are willing to help with serving and talk to these wonderful folks. You will have to be at the Center at 8:00am and they ask that you please wear black pants and a white shirt. If you are interested, please contact Christine Ramos at (336) 216-8768 or email her at [email protected].

Patriotic Peacemakers

Looking for some time to get caught up on your unfinished projects or are you looking to start a new one and make some new friends? Come join the Patriotic Peacemakers Quilt Group! We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Oveta Culp Center on Fort Hood from 11:00—3:00. A working knowledge of your sewing machine is the only requirement! Come share your ideas and get some new ones! For more information contact Stacy Clady at [email protected].
