Course Start Date: The course week is week 49. The course will be held by Jonas Odland, Helge Hatlestad, Jan Wedøe and Hans Jørgen Lindland. They will share the teaching hours according to their specifi c experience and also use additional personnel to be the coach for the exercises to be held throughout the course. The petroleum engineering course will have five specific exercises that will deal with subsea concepts, weight and cost estimation and NPV calculation.

Study: All teaching and exercises will be done within the course hours. It is not intended that the participants are to do studies and preparations outside of the course hours.

Material and documentations: Included in the course fee are three technical documents to be used during the course and to keep for continuous use afterwards. The title of the books are:

• Management of petroleum activities• Platform and subsea technologies• Oil and gas drilling and production systems

The books are supplement to the course itself and have a more detailed explanation of all of the items that the course will deal with.

Total cost for the course: The total cost for the petroleum engineering course will be 15.000 NOK pre VAT before 21 November and 20.000 NOK pre VAT after 21 November. This includes all class material, lunch each day and the set of books shown in the section above.

Jonas OdlandDr.Ing. Marine Technology

Dr. ing. J. Odland has 40 years of experience from the o� shore industry, including 8 years in DNV followed by 28 years in Statoil. In Statoil he was responsible for the development of fl oating production systems for projects such as Veslefrikk, Troll, Norne and Åsgard. He has been chief engineer for the area of platform technology and involved in R&D as well as standardization (NORSOK/ ISO). He has been technical director and adviser related to project evaluation and fi eld development for the NCS as well as GoM, Angola, Nigeria and Brazil. He is currently engaged as professor at the University of Stavanger (UiS), where he is teaching a M.Sc. course in O� shore Field Development. His formal background is M.Sc. in Naval architecture (1974) and Dr. Ing. in Marine Technology (1980) in Marine Structures at NTH/NTNU.

Hans J. LindlandM.Sc PetroleumTechnology

H.J.Lindland started with ELF Norge in 1974 and during 7 years held various positions including OIM on Frigg and Assistant Completion Workover Superintendent for ELF Aquitaine Norge. He spent 19 years with Statoil where he was chief engineer subsea systems for 8 years, followed by 13 years with FMC in management positions in the area of subsea technology and subsea operations. He is currently Task Force Manager Pipelines and Subsea installations, Intsok RU-NO Barents Project.

Helge HatlestadM.Sc. Industrial Economy

H. Hatlestad has 40 years of experience from the o� shore industry, starting with 3 years in Aker in project planning for Statfjord A and Brent C, followed by 37 years in Statoil. He has been VP for all Field Development on NCS, (PD) for Gullfaks, PD for Åsgard, MD Statoil UK and SVP E&P International D &P. He was the fi rst SVP on Statoil’s internal investment arena. He has also been TD and advisor related to project evaluation and fi eld development for the NCS and International E&P. Before joining Acona he was senior advisor responsible for strategy, design basis and business case establishment in Tanzania Gas Project. During his last 4 years in Statoil he was teaching at the Statoil in-house fi eld development courses. His formal background is M.Sc. in Industrial Economy (1973) at NTH/NTNU.

Jan WedøeMechanical Enginer

J. Wedøe has approximately 40 years of experience from o� shore industry, including 5+ years in Aker dealing with prefabrication and installation in concrete platforms, followed by 28+ years in Statoil and 5+ years in Aibel. In Statoil he has held various roles, fi rstly within project control, later within fi eld development both NCS, but mostly international. He has been expatriated both to London and Houston, working with – amongst other – Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Golf of Mexico, most of the time both in managerial roles and responsible for technical integrity. In Aibel he acted as responsible for studies and (partly) engineering in the largest business area, counting network of 30 study managers and 8 engineering managers at various location in Norway and o� ce in Singapore.
